The best motor that will fit that from Redcat is probablly the SH18. To take the motor off just take the four screws in the chassis plate off and your done.

And of course remove the fuel line.

And carb linkage. Then you need to strip it down, to the block, head and carb.

This is what Redcat says about the engine replacement,"You must include the head, carbuetor, backplate, pull start and all internal engine components.".

you need to take the flywheel, clutch shoes, and components off, dont forget the spacer between the engine and the flywheel too.

Shoota what makes you think your motor is blown. Saying the clutch spring came out makes me think that is what your problem is. This is a common problem and can cause starting issues with teh motor.

well , i tried tuning this thing for hrs last night and today ,it also takes forever to start ,when it doe's start , it gets hot really fast , and i seem to have low compression, im not possitive its blown , but i never had all these problems before. could that spring cause all these things to happen? , it would be great if thats all it is. i just notice my manual show a motor assembly diagram for a 18CXP anybody know where i can find a manual with the vx18 diagram?

How old is the motor? If you take the plug out is there any pinch left at all?

With the glow plug out turn the crank. You should have some resistance at top dead center. The cylinder wall is tapered up near the top. Thats where you get compression as the piston goes to the top. That is called pinch. If you have some resistance then its good. If not then it may be worn. Also if you have any exhaust leaks, fuel tank leak or air leak in the motor it will cause overheating. Do you oil the filter and what temps are you running.

ok, i feel compression when the piston is at the bottom of the sleeve ,i feel none when its at the top, yes i always practiced good maintenance with it airfilter oil, after run oil etc, thats why it so surprizeing that its acting like this all of a sudden.

maybe you mean the other way around? take the plug out when you check so you can see the piston.

Shoota did you get the PM I sent back to you? I'm beging to think that the tunning might be out of whack and that's about all it is. Oh and a broken clutch spring.
