Default electric volcano

A neighbor of mine wants to get his kids (7 and 9) into rc but wants to start with a decent electric. How good is the electric volcano.

They are not too bad. I liked the electric Street car better than the offroad electric trucks. The battery seemed to drain faster on the trucks. They really need the brushless sytem over the brushed system, but I think for a 7 & 9 year old they wouldn't be too bad. I just think they need the brushless system.

batteries will drain faster on a truck due to the fact it has bigger tires, more weight and taller gearing due to the tires on the truck, they are 2 different things. Every electric can use a brushless system. There's not much out there at the redcat price that could compare to it.

That would deffinatly explain why the batteries don't last as long in the trucks, glad your here to clear things up otherwise no one might have figured that out.

What size batteries have been used and what kind of run times?

My son and I tried the stock battery that comes with them on the street car and on the off road cars and we got approximatlly 10 minutes give or take a few minutes off road with the trucks and about 15 minutes or so on road. The street car got about maybe 20 minutes, maybe a little less with the stock battery.

We also ran Racers Edge 3300mah batteries and got about an extra 10 or so minutes, never ran the Redcat 3000mah batteries.

Basicaly with the stock set up it boils down to your typical Electric car, only you can fix these if something breaks. They are an awsome deal for the money though you can't go wrong for $110 to whatever bucks for a hobby grade electric car as a beginner into the R/C Hobby. It's just like the Tornado or any of the Redcat cars for the price you can't go wrong.

i used the stock batteries and i would say about 7 minutes or so, i used my charger, the mrc brain, of course you get better run times the better battery you use but to start out, the stock 1800 is fine.

since your saying negative things about it, i thought an explanation was warranted so people would understand why and not just saying the run times are no good. The run times for a stock setup are fine in the word of electrics, a 10 minute runtime on an electric truck is pretty good.

Agreed a 10 min runtime is pretty good on a stock battery set-up.

I didn't say anything negative or bad, I was giving my input about them. There great cars. Improvement can't be made if every one turns a blind eye to what might need to be changed and that is something I feel and few customers also feel should be changed. That maybe the off road trucks should come with the 3300mah battery instead of the smaller battery. Why would I bad mouth them, when I sell them.

[link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WZIz9wI9lY&feature=related]Here[/link] is a video of it with the Brushless. Keep in mind that he has a tamiya to deans adapter on there and with full deans (not adapter) you will see much higher speeds. This is with the stock pinion and a venom 6 cell battery. This in NOT my video. It's Redcat Nick's.

Get your nose out of Redcats Behind and maybe you would have been able to be productive in this thread, instead of trying to harrase me.

who is harrasing you, you cant just say the truck gets a bad run time or short run time and the car gets a good run time, there is a reason why and i explained, bigger tires, more mass to move, the batteries dont last as long, its basic knowledge in the hobby, trucks and off road electrics dont last as long as on roads, i think that is productive to explain this and not just say the rutimes are short.

what was i trying to do? cant you just stop this wade? if i feel something needs to be added to a comment or something is left out, i am going to add it. In my opinion what you said sounded bad and made the product look bad, i just wanted to explain why it was. There are few to no rtr cars that come with a battery pack, the redcat comes with an 1800 pack and you think it should come with a 3300 pack, its a good idea but somewhere along the line the cost would be more, the battery that comes with it is sufficient to start with, if someone wants a better batter or longer run times, they can purchase a new, better battery. I was doing nothing but explaining why the trucks dont have as long of a run time as the cars. Sorry you took offense to it but that doesnt mean i am up to anything.

And why do I have to say it your way. Do I need to pm you to approve whatever I post so it's worded your way. This is stupid and it doesn't matter, this is pointless and not helping anyone.
