Default Redcat Brushless System Help (is it cogging?)

With no load on the motor, not even a pinion gear, it accelarates very slow and is glitchy and jerkey. Also, the motor connectors get hot. What can I do? Any help?

Thank you very much

First, how many cells are you running? are they fully charged? what connectors are you using(loose connections or damaged connectors will create resistance)? also i wouldn't recomend freewheeling the motor as it may lead to internal damage as the motor may outrev itself.

6 cells (Tenergy 4200mAh). They are fully charged and it is more of a stuttering than a cogging. I even tried it in a car to see what would happen and..............same thing.

Hmm.. i do get an initial cogging on my rusty, but it is only on start up, i assumed it was because of gearing and the 3300kv motor but after the start up mine pulls like crazy

What do you mean by start up? And also, the motor connectors get hot.

If the connectors are not good ones they will get hot. Too much resistance. Invest in some deans connectors and it will make life easier.

I already did. It's the motor connectors that get hot.

Did you solder them together properly to make sure that they have good connection

to me it sounds like a bad motor. i ate the cost of a feigao doing the same thing. i thought i was smart so i popped the motor open to look for an issure and it turns out the rotor was unballanced which whipped the bearings and scored some of the windings inside. then when i reported this to the seller, they said if i opened the motor there is no warrenty. i was so mad since i only had the motor for 1 day, and only drove the car about 50 feet.

I guess most of you guys dont know how to break in an electric motor. Yes they must be broken in. I have run electric for almost 15yrs and learned along time ago for best performance and longevity that electrics need to be broken in. Its the worst thing to do is to just add a battery and go running.

And how do you "break in" a brushless motor setup?

Yea, only brushed motors have to be broken in.
