Default difficulty of removing avalanche engine???

on a scale of 1-10 what is the difficulty rating on removing the avalanche engine and does it need to be removed to install a roto start

It is very easy. I would say a 2 on the scale. Yes you do need to remove the engine to install a roto start.

Just 4 screws on the bottom, carb linkage and exhaust coupler.

its super easy. about as easy as it could get. much easier than the 1/10th scale cars cause you dont have to re-align the gears when reinstalling the engine
