What the Heck is goin ON here?
I own 2 Volcano SV Trucks. I broke the Pull Start on the one I was running today. Went Home to get the Roto Start from Truck # 2 (engine is apart for overhaul).Turns out that My two VX.18 engines have DIFFERENT Back Plates and Pullstarts and/or Rotostarts.
Below are pictures of the engines side by side and the Pull Starts side by side.
I use THIS HPI Roto Start on the engine with the Big back plate.

Can anyone tell me what Roto Start will fit on the Engine with the Small back plate?

Yeah the new VX18's have different pull starts on them. The newer ones are 1" bolt pattern and the older ones are 1 1/4" bolt pattern. My Lightning and both Tornado's have the 1" and I noticed the Volcano I just got has the older 1 1/4". I will have to find out if they have a drill start back plate with the 1" pattern.
How bad is the pull start broken, any chance you could rebuild it to get you back up and running??

I Should be able to fix the Pullstart. Just has a broken cord. I'll try it Tomorrow in the Daylight.
