Default adjusting diff/slipper

I have a Volcano SV, and I just replaced the spur gear. Can anyone provide any input on proper adjustment of the "slipper?" I am talking about the two thin nuts to adjust the friction between the spur gear and the smaller gear on the same shaft. It is part number 23 on page 40 "Diff Box" drawing of the manual.

Thanks!

Bryan

hmmmm...i never just changed the spur gear i bought the whole setup. im not sure how to test that. it would suck just to tell you to test it out but then if it to loose then you would have to take it off and adjust it again. im sure someone here will have a answer.

When you say tighten it "all the way," do you mean until the spring is completely compressed? Then back off from there? When I disassembled, I counted the turns when removing the nut and went back to the same spot. But it seems super tight like it would never slip.

Thanks for the input Adam/Kuppler. I have seen a bunch of good infop posts from you. And thanks Macanan for bringing me to this forum to find help tonight.

FYI, Dennis from Clermont put me on to part number 08033. It was like $5 versus $16 for the whole setup. And it was not so hard to change.

hi bro, i would do like adam said, tight until very snug, then back a full turn, this should give good protection when landing a jump on the throttle but not slip when taking off.

this was actually asked in the himoto forum and one of the moderators moved it to the redcat forum, thats why it says that.
