Hello
I''m am currently breaking in a new truck, and I have a temperature monitor connected to the engine and control circuits connected to the steering and throttle servos, and I was wondering if the engine can be shut off by manipulating the throttle servo, and idle screw as suggested in the quote below.
"To shut the motor off when temp. exceeds parameters couldn''''t you just unwind the idle screw so that the slide is shut when the servo is at max. travel.....during running the servo is advanced so the idle gap is correct and should engine get too hot the servo would then close the slide stalling engine?
Just a thought."
Does anyone here understand exactly what is being suggested and will it work?

well technically the right ay to tune your engine for performance, not so much for temp. during the break in if you just leave the needles at the factory setting the engine will not over heat. if it does over heat then you have a lean condition going on and you may have an air leak in the fuel system, exhaust system or carb. the only adjust you should need to make during break in is to the idle screw to kee it idling properly as the engine breaks in the idle wll change. once break in is done you tune for performance and not for temp. you''ll never get it to run at a certain temp. after a lot of high speed runs your temp will be pretty high possibly in the 260 or 270 range. all the electronic monitoring stuff is pretty much useless for the most part. the on board temp monitoring is nice because youcan see what the temp is, but you really want to for performance and sound.

Well this isn''t tunning, I''m developing a sort of automated-break-in pertection system. I''m trying to develop a automatic shut off incase the temp exceeds a preset value during the inital break-in process, and the suggestion I posted up above was made by someone reading my post and I thought I''d come here and see it I could validate it and maybe get a little more detail.
