Those that received an UltraLite will not have to pay for this part. I just wanted to clear that up. We had to create a product code and selling price to put them into the system.

Nick, are the new ultralights, that can be ordered from you, already upgraded or does the customer have to get the upgrade parts to do this. I'm thinking about ordering but would like to know.

The ones that wanted a Landslide or a Maelstrom got the upgrade. There has never been an issue with the Sandstorm or the Twister as there suspension travel isn't very much.

Is the upgraded drivetrain of the landslide as beefy as the avalanche?

I just tore apart my new landslide so I can start locktighting all of the parts. I noticed my drivetrain is not upgraded. I purchased the truck new from an EBAY vendor. What do I need to do to get the upgraded parts. First 5 mins into the first tank of gas and I had screws and parts falling off already.

a question for the experts here: Would the landslides upgraded drive train be able to handle the sh .28? Not just for cruising but will it withstand bashing and racing?

I would say no....the drive parts are designed for the small block engines....you throw the power of the sh.28 at the new upgrade and you are defeating the purpose of the ultralight and the upgraded parts

There is a local customer that comes in here. He put the sh.28 in the landslide. After the drive train upgrade and the new front upper arms he hasn't broke anything. doesn't even strip gears in it.

Oh and there are new front lower arms in stock that have more support on them to make them stronger

I'm sorry, I'd have to see that to believe it....I see a buncha people having trouble with the ultralites be it spur gears and other drivetrain issues....the stock sh.18 engines that the ultralites come with are rated at 1.0 hp.....the sh.28 p3 is rated at 3.6hp.....if the guy is getting by with this he CANT be to hard on it at all

if you would spend the extra $35 for the rest of the upgraded drive shafts and cups and make sure that the slipper on the spur gear isn't overtightned i'm sure the landslide will be able to handle it just fine.

your forgeting the ultralites were designed for a small block....your not talking about a small hp increase, your talking 2 1/2 times the hp...and I promise you the torque of a .28 is much more then a .18...I have both I KNOW....if shengines.com listed torque values I would prove it...if you took the extra $35 ur talking about and add it to the price of a landslide you would have a avalanche which would out bash, jump or anything else you wanted to do then any ultralite

Your also forgetting that i didn't buy my landslide, i won it. If i did buy it i would have spent the extra money to get the avalanche, but i didnt buy it so now i'm upgrading it. I dont plan to put the .28 in it either i was looking at some of the sh .21's and they had between 2.6 and 2.8 hp but they had 36000 to 38000 max rpm's and the sh .28 only kicks out 30000 max rpms.

well I know the spur gear is plastic....I also know the chassis is only 2mm thick and the tower supports are plastic..this means chassis flex..any shock to the chassis will result into wrong gear mesh....the hurricanes, lightnings etc etc all have 3mm chassis...I know 1mm isnt much...but when ur talking 3mm max 1mm is alot..I can literally twist the chassis on a 3mm chassis by hand...

look at it this way...if you got a drag car chassis and drivetrain thats SPOSE to hold up to a 500 hp engine...and its having troubles holding up...do you think throwing a 1500 hp engine is it is gonna help??..

But it seems that only the people with the old drive trains and the ones that aren't assembled right are the ones that have problems. Anyway, half the time only the people who have problems come to these forums. Not that all or even most of you people do but there could be lots of people who haven't had problems (not saying there are) and they just haven't been talking about it or aren't members of RCU.

he asked for opinions....I gave mine....as you can tell I did my homework....to me its common sense....and just incase your wondering..I am a auto tech for a living...so I have a very good understanding on what makes mechanical things tick

and if your wondering were I got my information I have a buddy that owns one...we compared it to a monsoon and a hurricane....the guy that asked the question asked if it would be as durable as the avalanche...not only just running it around but jumping and bashing
