RE: engines
Well...im a big block guy and my Volcano (same frame as Tornado) has a Hyper .21 stuffed in it. It "fits" but by drilling new holes. At 2.5 hp and a 13 tooth clutch bell, i can do wheelies all day long. On a Tornado, have fun trying to keep the wheels on the ground with a big block.
As for small blocks, an SH.18 is by far the most reliable and most powerful for its price. To up the ante, the O.S. .18 CVR is my choice for the Tornado, plus it bolts right in.

RE: engines
i run a .28 axial spc1 in my recat tsunami and for the money i love that engine so much torque and never had a problem with it starts every time and runs all day ( plus you can tune the hsn with out a screwdriver heheheheh...but if i was to get another bb to replace it, it would be a sports go-tech engine .21-.28. there only about $110 bucks and iv got one in my mugen mbx5r buggy and it screams .i run the .25 go-tech 3p in that.

RE: engines
its not a ulatrwide. i have done nothing to the cups or dog bones there all standard redcat/himoto shelf items. i did have a lot of trouble with the drive cut on the rear pinion coming loose all the time , so i got a new one and lock tite and super glued the b1tch on lol (cos you still can remove the pinion by taking off the clip in side the diff). i do break a tail shaft every now and then but for a 5-6 dollar item im not fussed i just buy 4-5 at a time. with running that kind of power the you HAVE to shim up the diff so there is no play or side movment because when it gets hot and the case gets soft it will strip it all to sh1t.

I know what you mean with the set screws coming loose, I've had to loctite several myself. Did you have to do any major moding to get that .28 to fit? Surely it didn't just drop in, that's a big engine.

ya know what it did just drop in , just needed no make sum custom engine mounts because i wanted to use the standed engine slots in the stock chassi plate but you could just drill new ones if ya want . go to the tsunami forum and go back to round page 69 and you will see the whole build .
