Default Redcat Volcano EPX Brushless Help!!

Volcano EPX Hi All,

Looking to get my son into this hobby, I am a complete noob myself.
My son is 5 yrs old, I defintely think nitro is way out of the question and
400 buck on a traxxas is a bit much. Does anyone know if the Redcat Volcano EPX brushless
is any good? My other choice was a similar Exceed truck.

Thanks

Well, I can tell you that I have the baseline model is a great model, hey, I tested it with a hand held GPS, and it hit 18mph. As for the Brushless model that is even better.

Pros
1. It is a lot faster.

2. Less maintenance for the motor, because it does not have brushes.

Cons
1. It is over 100$ more.

Now it's up to you on what you want to buy.

Let me start by saying I mean NO Offense! Just trying to give an honest opinion.

Yes it is a very good truck! Nice quality. Durable for the average user. But...... A brushless Volcano is to much for that age group in my opinion. It will be to fast for him to control. (maybe even for you if it's your first time) Not that it is the fastest thing out there. Far from it but for someone new it is going to feel like it is screaming! It is a big Jump from the non-brushless... Your talking about a jump from 18mph to 40mph.

If he runs it in a huge lot that has nothing to hit he will be okay. Put anything even remotely close by and be ready to buy replacement parts!

Now on the flip side... get the brushless and let him run it out in the open until he gets used to it and then let him run wherever he wants. But try not to get mad at him if he breaks it a few times bouncing off of things at WOT. It truly won't be his fault.

Most important. Have Fun! It will be a blast watching him have a go at that thing! i can't wait until my boy is old enough!
