flywheel is too loose...

Default flywheel is too loose...

ever since my landslide took off and hit the fence (stripping spur gear) my flywheel is pretty loose and makes an annoying sound when i run it...i have tried once to tighten it up but the next time i ran it it was loose again..can u guys explain exactly what needs to be done to tighten it up..im sick of moving this engine back and forth..

no i'm not...i will take it apart now and see if i can understand whats going on...can i use another tool to tighten it up? and can i get this tool at the lhs or homedepot or sumthing? sorry, but im new at this...

Your LHS should have one, Its called a piston stopper. Getting a good grip on something to tighten down the flywheel can be very challenging some times. Other times its a snap. Check your collet and see if the flywheel has spun on it a few times. If so you will be well off to get a new collet and flywheel [&o]

what damage can ultimately be done fron running the truck with a loose flywheel?

Do not use a piston lock. If you do, only use it to tighten the clutch nut until the collet catches the flywheel, and then just hold the flywheel with channel locks to tighten it. Piston locks ultimately can screw up pistons and snap rods if you misuse it (seedy LHS' love these tools).

Most of the time just a ruined flywheel...........but I've seen clutch bells, spur gears and even chassis ruined from a loose flywheel [&o]

I've never screwed up a piston with a piston lock so I don't know about that. I probably use a piston lock 5 or 10 times a week [:@][&:]

the clutch shoes need to be removed also right? in order to tighten up the flywheel
