2 questions about Electric Tsunami
Can anyone tell me what size the stock pinion gear is? (I want to put a smaller one on it to decrease stress on the motor and keep the esc cooler)
Also, I want to put a cooling fan on the esc...(redcat brushless system) what size should I be looking for?
Thanks!

ESC Fan here,
http://www.rctoysnh.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=77_93
if you converted the stock EPX to brushless did you change the gear or use the one that came with the 550 can?

RE: 2 questions about Electric Tsunami
Do not go with the 26t for the pinion gear on a Tsunami even with brushless, you will not be happy. That 26 tooth gear would be fine in the lightning that has less weight with smaller wheels. I have one set up with stock gears and tried the 26 tooth and it lost all bottom end. Needless to say the stock gear went back in.

RE: 2 questions about Electric Tsunami
tall tires go with a smaller tooth pinion gear.
short tires, go with a pinion that has more teeth.
usually , monster trucks with big tires work great with 16-18 tooth pinons (the tall tires require less teeth on the pinion to keep the bottom end torque).
buggies with short tires work well with more teeth on the pinion gear (25-28).
a small pinion with tall tires will give low end torque, and midrange power...decent top speeds. if you put a big tooth pinion on with tall tires, it will be all top end speed, and it will take forever for it to top out.
tire size goes hand in hand with gear ratio...just remember, the taller the tires, the smaller the pinion and vise-versa (the shorter the tires, the bigger the pinion.)
of corse, alot of this is just ball park, you will have to do some trial and error to get exactly where you want it to be.
also take into consideration the weight, driving conditions, and how you want it to react.

RE: 2 questions about Electric Tsunami
Yeah thanks... I did some research and found out that pinion is the opposite of what I need. I want a smaller pinion... Not bigger like that one. I am going to try to find a 15T.
I think Tower has them.
