Hey guys,
New to the forums probably one of the largest redcat info center i gave yet to find. My problem is this, i cant really find any specs on the volcano t2 engine...i have a RedCat Volcano T2 with a SH.18 3.0CC engine ( things wicked ) bought the hop up kit to go along with the truck, comes with aluminum iol filled shock aluminum front and rear control arms ( upper and lower ) a polished and tuned exhaust, couple drive shafts, fuel filter ( already had one to install when i got it ) extra for me, aluminum wheel nuts. I did the break in period, tanks 1&2 at idle speed, tank 3 at 1/4 throttle, tank 4 @ 1/2 throttle and tank 5 from 3/4 to full throttle. thing runs great. Im using 20% nitro racing fuel i use after run oil after every run air filter oil after every run and the thing runs great. the two speed really takes off, i got the LSN set since the factory setting was way to lean, thing wouldnt idle for more then 30-45 seconds when i first started it, and im adjusting the HSN small incriments at a time i think all the way closed i am 3-3 1/2 turns out on the HSN but befor i start tuning it to spec i need to know what the engine temp should be @ for optimal perfoemance and life of the engine...i have a MIP onboard temp guage on the way and i need to know what temps i should be looking to set this thing at so i dont blow it up. ive tuned it down to about 2 1/4 turns off of closed on the HSN but i brought it back to rich at 3-3 1/2 ( JUST WANTED TO SEE WHAT THE THING COULD DO !!! ) But befor i run it at a constant setting i need to know that info abotu engine temp. if anyone can help i would deff appreciate it, from what i have been reading most engines runa t between 200 and 275 but idk about this engine and i would really like to know where i can find it or if anyone knows who is here....
Thanks Guys,

Hey welcome to the forums and the hobby, once you start, your new life begins haha. Im not exactly sure on the 18, but for the sh 28 at least, i stay at about 240-250 to be safe. And dont ever go over 270. Dont tune for temp, make sure it sounds good, and runs good, and if its running great, but its temps are 270, richen it a little bit to be safe. Just make it run its best, while staying at a good temp.

hahahaahah this is a little off subject but dang man...i've had my volcano for less then a week i actually got it friday and it was tuesday when i messed up my 2gear clutch...wow...sorta irritated about that one ... hopefully they make an upgrade...a well no stripped gears ran about 20 tanks thru the trcuk and then it wouldnt shift tore out the cent. diff figuring one of the gears was bad...come to find out the clutch finger was hanging out a bit i tightened it and it wouldnt go flush with the clutch body ... so im assuming it was the clutch correct?

ok well i figured out the temp on the engine for anyone who has this same question... it is between 190 and 260 although 260 is supposedly running hot for the sh .18 3.0 cc engine...thats str8 from redcat ... anything under 190 is considered very dangerous for engines as underheating is worse then over heating...keep it under 260 since over heating is a problem as well but from my understanding underheating is worse...so keep it above 190 and max 260...just got my MIP on-board heat sensor...things tiny and sleek and easy to use in case anyone is curious about them... nice to have very easy to install and works great...19.03 off ebay shipping included shipped here in 3 days alltogether from order date to door step...any questions e-mail [email protected]
