the receiver wire broke and i contacted my lhs and he said he could solder a new one of but it might not work. is this true? is there any way to fix it or do i have to buy a new reciever

i would just buy a new one. you can order a reciver and crystals from almost anywhere for less than $40. i wouldnt want to chance it breaking again and your car run off into a wall or tree

Find yourself an old ham radio operator to help you fix it............its all about the length of the wire being proper.........many an RX has had a new antenna wire soldered on
