Mikes Hobbies has it for $289. REDCAT keeps the parts in stock. RCTOYSNH (I think) sells REDCAT also. I just bought all the hop ups for mine. It is fast, putting 1/8 buggy wheels from the BACKDRAFT on mine. It will take a beating. I've bashed mine to see how it would hold up. Broke the steering link in a really bad crash. My fault, not REDCAT or the truck, with my daughters help.

I bought the backdraft 8e(same as aftershock)from RCtoysNH as they were the cheapest including shipping to New Zealand,(did take over a month though) out of the box it looks ok but a decent charger was my first addition, performance was nothing to be ashamed of as it is very quick and powerfull. The problem i have had is it is quite fragile the plastic is very hard and has very little give on my first and only run i broke the rear wing clean off, then broke the steering linkage and rear hub carrier in a small roll over, i have order`d parts from rc-tradingpost.com and found them very cheap but upgrades will cost an arm and a leg,

got it!!i will say this thing rips!.but there are some things that have me worried.the steering is very weak and flimsy..the servo is ok but the mount is horrible and bents all over the place,i will be making a new mount out of aluminum...the main steering link is very flimsy i also will be making a aluminum upgrade..i know they sell one but i can do better
..i have a mill so i tend to make alot of my own parts..i also got the version with the 2.4 gz radio witch is nice and seems to work good..im kinda worried about the 1/10 axles handling this power but it seems to work well..i will say its a good buy but you do need to step in and fix a couple of things that are lacking but for the price you cant go wrong...here are some pics for those wondering what the battries look like...i also got her to pose next to the baja..

I hope the aftershock is less prone to damage than the backdraft, as iv now put 3 batteries through it and can saftely say it would have to be the biggest piece of junk ive ever owned this thing is so fragile it breaks like balsa wood, yes parts are cheap but need to be as i have sofarbroken a rear hub both front hubs the wing and steering linkage all in about 25 minutes thats without other cars on the track and not actually hitting anything, just acouple of roll overs, Good luck to any other ownersas no doubt you`ll find you`ll bewaiting for parts more often than driving. I will be pulling the only decent thing out (esc and motor) and put it intosomething stronger like a car made from egg shells.</p>

I've beaten the crap out of my backdraft 8e and haven't broken anything. I'm talking jumping over my suv trying to break it. Its like a timex, takes a licking and keeps on ticking. I think these are great cars and that they're as durable as any thing else and yes I've owned other brands so I'm not just talking out of my a**.

I just got a backdraft with the 2.4gz radio. WHATAPILEOFJUNK!! Ive yet to run a battery through it. so far the steering linkage arm broke, both front turnmbuckles, the steering arm opposite the servo-saver and just yesterday the front A-arm stuck up landing off a small jump a stock slash is able to clear and broke the diff case where the A-arm mounts. Ive spent over $150 on upgraded aluminum parts and have yet to even run a full battery through the thing. Im not out bashing it , running into curbs or taking it to the skatepark. just on our local racetrack. I agree with the poster aboveEggshell parts would be an upgrade. the bad thing is they have so much potential. Out of the box thay have a real nice motor and ESC , 2 Lipos, 2.4gz radio, they handle well for bone stock and are very stable. just dont drop the thing off anything taller then 3" or the front end will come apart.

I have the Aftershock 8E and I have seen it jump 20' and 6' height in stock form. I have beat the crap out of this truck (curbs. tumbles, endos, rolls, flips, etc.) for 4wks straight til the steering link broke. At that point I did all upgrades to it except for the sway bars. That was in the begining, I just ripped my first body in half (the red one). Now I'll put on my new blue body. I wanted to see what the truck would do and take in stock form. It exceeded all my expectations. I have put some nitro fuel line on the shock shaft now for bottom out or a bump stop. This was my first truck after a 25 year absence from RC's.

Every once in a while we see someone come in and say their car is brittle as a twig.. I wonder if they get bad batches of plastic (parts) every so often, which in turn puts out a batch of fragile vehicles?? Somethings up, cause most everyone on here says they can TRY to break their cars and cant do it, then someone will come along and say theirs broke just rolling over grass practically?? Might be worth it to start keeping suspect parts that brake, that were sure shouldn't have? Maybe start sending em' back to Redcat for analysis or something? If they find out the plastic was sub par, maybe they'll send ya a new piece? Or at the very least, it hay help the quality control, and reduce the chance of it happening to someone else? Just an idea.. Bummer ya'll didnt get a chance to enjoy your stuff before it broke..
