Dune Runner 4x4 Questions
I'm considering getting either the HPI Baja, King Motors version, or the Redcat Dune Runner 4x4. I'm leaning towards the Dune Runner because of the 4x4. I can't find any videos on youtube showing it in action so I was wondering if this is a newer vehicle. I also plan on upgrading the motor and wondering how does everything hold up to the stronger motor. Thanks.

RE: Dune Runner 4x4 Questions
Ive got the 2wd version and i love it. I got a non ported 28.9cc motor with a +2mm stuffed crank. Pushin 4.5+hp with a tuned pipe and it rips. Plenty of power with a stock clutch spring. With a higher stall spring it would take off harder but it already spins the wheels. Anyways i love mine and ive got about 4 tanks through it and everything is holding up awesome. nothing broke yet.

No ive had no problems at all. But im also running the stock spring. If you put in the ddm 7500 rpm or the hpi 8000 rpm springs it might be different. cause it will be puttin more torque on the drive train instantly. But i just spin the tires in dirt, and i would assume it would do the same with the 4wd.
The only real problems ive heard with the drive train are the dog bone cup shafts breaking. But that was mainly when they first came out, i think they fixed that problem though.

Ok...thanks a lot. Yeah I heard about the cups breaking and diff gears also. I was thinking about putting a 30.5cc kit or getting 27.2cc O'Neill Brothers engine. Thanks again.

I have both a Baja and Dune Runner and they are different beasts when driving. The four wheel drive is a plus and it is a little wider than the Baja so it is pretty stable. I am about to change the clutch and wheels to HPI rims so I can take advantage of some grippier tires. There is a couple Dune Runner videos cause I watched them before I purchased mine. I like them both and I always run them back to back when I go out!
