Default Newbie Question. Plugs Foul Out.

Ok, so I don't have much nitro experience, but here is the problem that I am having. I have a Redcat Shockwave with the vx 16 engine. When I pulled out the plug, the coil looked perfect, but the rest of the plug was pitch black. I have noticed a little trouble starting the car, and a slight peformance decrease. What would cause this? Someone told me I could be using too much air filter oil, and someone else said maybe the HPI fuel has too much castor in it. I figured I would ask here because I will get the most useful answers. Thank

Sure sounds like it's too rich.. Try leaning the high speed needle a little. HSN shouldnt effect the idle..

Try putting all your needles back to factory specs, 2.5 on the high, flush with the collar on the lsn and a 1mm gap on the idle. Then tune your hsn from there, then your lsn.

Well, it appears as though the motor was running lean, and it was pulling the oil out of the air cleaner. I changed the air cleaner, and now it's running great. Thanks for the advice. Just one question. How long should a tank of gas last?

Glad ya found the problem! I hadnt heard of too much air cleaner oil being a problem before.. I'll have to make sure and not over saturate my filters!! Welcome to the forum!!
