Default Newbie with S30 with mesh Problem

I just got a Tornado S30 and am trying to set the gear mesh and when I turn the tires only the tire on the same axle turns. If I turn them back and forth I can get it to enage the transmision. Does anyone know where I should start?

Thanks,
Jeremie</p>

That's just the differentials doing their job.. Turn both front or both rear wheels at the same time and it'll engage the tranny.. The S30's like the mesh tight. As tight as you can get w/o them touching/binding.. Here's what a properly meshed Tornado S30 spur/clutch-pinion should look like:

Here is a video that may help you set the gear mesh correct.
Hope this helps

THanks guys. I think I got the mesh right, now I cannot get it to start. Fuel is in the carb and it hydolocked a time or two and I took the glow plug out and drained the gas out of the cylinder and cannot get it to fire. I set the idle per the video and still nothing. I have an electric start, should I swap it back to the pull start?

Im not familiar with the electric starters, or how they power/light the glow plug, but I've pulled my hair out numberous times trying to start my (pull start) SH .18 nitro, only to eventually figure out that my glow ignitor was drained.. So, make sure ya have good juice to the glow plug when your tryin to start it! I know on mine, a 1.19V charge wont get it done.. Needs to be 1.2+ before it'll fire up.. If nothing else, put your needles back to the stock settings and start over. It should start with the needles in the factory stock settings.. In case you've gotten them out of adjustment, on mine (Tornado S30) they are 3.25 turns out on the HSN, 3 turns out on the LSN, and 2.25 turns out on the idle screw..  Then "tune" if from there for performance.. Good luck!

Thanks, I got ist started but now when I take the igniter off it dies. I think it is way too rich as more than just blow off fuel is coming out the exaust. I will play with it tomorrow when I am not pissing off the neighbors. .

Thanks, got it going today. I thought on the carb adjustment 1 full turn was 360degrees not 180. Me and my son are already addicted to the sport. We did trash the spur gear and lost the front drive dogbone so we need parts. Are there more dependable cars out there or are all cars prone to need worked on as much as drivetime? I am debating on getting some extra spur gears and such but not sure it is just as cheap to buy a new car or roller for parts. There are a few on ebay, any thoughts?

The spurs will last once ya get the mesh right.. As for the dogbones, ya need to get some small O rings (or a 2mm slice of fuel tubing) and put one in each of your front drive cups, before installing the dogbone.. (Should just need 1 "o" ring per axle) That'll solve the dogbone coming out problem.. Glad ya got the enige running! It's hard figuring out what everyone means by a "turn" of the screw.. As you found out, some say a turn, but actually mean 180*.. If I say a turn, I mean a "full turn" (360*)
