Default Problems Problems Problems.. Tornado EPX Pro

<div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt">Ok, Lets see, where do I start?Well I want to start off by saying I have 3 Redcats and love 2 of then but my Tornado EPX Pro is nothing but problems and problems and problems.</div><div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt">I received the buggy and opened it up and was amazed at how clean and sexy the buggy was. I charged my battery and we to the gold course and drove it. Next day I went out for a drive once again and about half way though the battery I hear grinding sound and all four of my dogbanes are bent and main and spur gear are shredded. I call Redact and they send me new gears and dogbones. I get them in and take to hobby town and they install. I get it back and once again half way thought the battery the gears are shredded and 3 of the four dog bones fell out. &ldquo;Sent me the wrong ones&rdquo;. So once again they send me new parts and have them installed once again. I take it to my local track and drive it and wouldn&rsquo;t you know half a battery and the gears are done again. I go to my local hobby shop and just buy new gears install them and once again they get shredded. So at this point I am soo pissed off. I have had the buggy for about a month and haven&rsquo;t even gotten a full battery in. I call them and they say send it in. I spend $12 to send it in and tell them that the car is glitching really really bad and to check that out also. They get the car and they said the motor was bent a little and they replaced that and the gears once again. I get it back about 2 week&rsquo;s later soooooo happy to get it back. I charge the battery and drive it out side, everything looks amazing. So the next day I go to my local RC track and drive and hey wouldn&rsquo;t you know. The car is glitching sooooo bad I cant even really drive it. And o ya the gears are shredded once again. That makes 5 sets of gears and they still keep shredding. I called them yesterday and they said take it apart and send back the broken parts and we will send you new ones. I go to take it apart last night and the alin that holds the cup on for the drive shaft is striped beyond belief and so far down there is no way to get it out. I called them today and they said send it back once again&hellip;&hellip; I don&rsquo;t want to send it back I want the buggy I paid $200 for to last at least one full battery. I don&rsquo;t know what to do with this buggy. I love my other two Redcats but this thing is a huge peace of crap. I have had it for 2 months and its seen 10 batteries and only one full one.</div><div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt"></div><div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt">What should I do?</div><div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt"></div><div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt">and by no means am i saying dont go buy a redcat. "love my other two" Just this thing is crap and not sure what to do. I know people that have the same one and never ever had a problem with it.</div>

you can just accept that redcat doesnt give two ****s about thier customers like i did and modify the spur gear and diffs. i am now using a spur gear adapter from team academy and a 78t spur with a 23t pinion. though i am using a vxl 3s motor/esc combo on a 6cell 7.2v and i am now having problems with my diff grinding on a launch and under breaking. i am currently hunting for another brand to replace the diffs with. i will let you know what i turn up. apperently the only thing the chinese factory that makes redcats can do properly is the control arms and the center drive shaft.

Sorry to hear about all your problems. I have the Vortex EXP pro (similar/same chassis) and have only had one issue: the stock ESC is "clunky". It seemed like a radio issue or voltage cutoff issue but wasn't. I replaced the bulky ESC with a Hobbywing EZrun 60A unit and all is good. The truck is very controllable and smooth. Also with the Hobbywing, the ESC can be tuned for all parameters.
As for the drivetrain, I have only changed the spur gear once. All the dogbones are solid. Maybe you got an earlier production unit? I am only saying that my Vortex seemed to have the bugs worked out of it. For sub $200 retail RTR it was a good buy and actually pretty durable. I may have got a bad ESC, but I half expected it for the price. The motor itself seems strong and top speed with a good 7.2v Nimh is high....high enough I haven't even switched to a lipo.
