Binding the Lansu 2.4Ghz
 

So been trying to bind my Lansu 2.4 3ch TX to a seperate redcat racing 2.4 RX and it wont bind. I have the sumo crawler and want to use the same TX on a different vehicle using
redcat 2.4 3 ch. reciever to get the steering modes.I've gone through the binding process and the receiver will bind with the original Lansu TX but not my Lansu. Any thoughts?

im alittle confused by your post.

what reciever are you trying to bind it to? a lansu or a dsm-2c?

and didnt your sumo crawler come with the 2.4 lansu radio?

Essentially I want to bind my Lansu 2.4 that came with my sumo to another 2.4 3 ch RX.  Not the dsm, the other 3 ch RX that comes with the
Lansu if you were to buy it seperately.

thought you were trying to get the lansu to bind to the dsm

does the lansu Rx have bind plug, or a button?

It has a button.  Hold the button on the RX, turn on power and it quickly blinks.  Hold the red SEL button on TX and turn on power.
That is the bind procedure.

Guess what I'm really trying to figure out is can the Lansu 2.4 bind with any other 3 ch. redcat reciever other than the original one it
came with?  If not Redcat really dropped the ball on that one, especially since I was told by someone at Redcat that they will
be selling the recievers by themselves.

it has to be able to bind to other lansu Rx's...otherwise there would be no point in having a bind button in the rx and tx.

it sure does sound like you got the procedure right.

Just got off the phone with them and it doesn't look good.  I was told they've never tried to cross bind any Tx's and Rx's since everything
comes RTR.  I then asked why they would be possibly be selling the RX's by themselves if you can't bind the TX to anything other than
the original RX and was told that may be why they don't have any RX's yet from China.  Maybe they found out you can't bind so no RX's to
the U.S?  Too bad.  I wanted the steering options on my creeper without having to get another TX laying around the house.

I guess this means for all the people using the Lansu TX and RX, don't break your TX or fry your RX cause you'll have to order both not
just the one you busted up.

where did you find the info on the binding process then?

Is there maybe a different button you should press on the Tx before you turn it on?

Im not totally surprised that noone at redcat knew if it could be done, but i cant imagine a 2.4system that can be bound to other rx's of the same make.

The binding info was in the manual, and it does bind ONLY the original RX that the TX came with.  You can tell this by putting the RX in bind mode then turning on the TX(not in bind mode) and nothing happens, but once you get the TX into bind mode the reciever light goes solid.
If you try this with the same exact TX but ordered seperately it will not bind.

Even though they can't be cross binded they still have to have bind buttons for them to interface at the factory for initial set up I believe.

very odd, never heard of one like that.

sucks to have to buy another transmitter and rx just to put in your creeper.

the 4 wheel steering options on that radio are pretty sweet. I have sold a few in more store, most likely for people who wanna do the same thing you want...to make another brand crawler have 4ws.

Yup, if I bite the bullet and decide I gotta have it in my creeper I'll probably order one from you nitro.  My buddy ordered his from the redcat site
and it took 3 weeks to get to him since it came from china, not AZ.

3 weeks, thats nuts. Anything in my store ships from inside the USA.

How do you like your creeper? I had a safari creeper for a winter. worked well in the snow with a set of imex swamp dawg tires:)

Love the creeper, cheap and fun.  only complaint is the servo operated diffs don't like to stay locked, so they are now zip tied to the locked position.  Running the novak Rooster crawler and 55T combo with a 2S.  After getting the redcat sumo crawler and seeing the steering
modes, thought to myself...gotta have it in the creeper.  Gonna have to figure another way to power my axel lights if I go that route though since the 3rd channel will be taken up by the rear steering servo.

I liked the safari creeper alot...except for the dang captured pin system. works great till the set screws get alittle rusty and like to back out...then you lose the drive pin and there goes your drive on that wheel. and the drive pins are not the same size as the ones commonly used for the wheel hex!

I ran my poor creeper threw soo much water, muck, sandy mess and such that the sand and eventual rust locked all but 2 of the tranny bearings!

yeh, I got my use out of that truck.

There is a way to get 4ws that has some of the functions that the lansu radio gives you.

Option #1, mod a traxxas TQ3 radio's 3rd channel switch to a 3 position switch. this will give you independant control of the rear...but you get only full right/left and center ability(not proportional)

option #2, use a airplane radio, the twin stick type. agian, independant rear steering ability...but this time it will be proportional.

There is one other, but I dont like this one. You can "Y" harness the 2 servos.(plug them both into channel #1) You set them up to steer opposite....tight turn. But you will have 4ws ALL the time. And I found there are plenty of times you dont want 4ws.

If i can get my hands on a cheap AX10 before snowfall, im gonna do the rear steer with a airplane radio...since i already have one sitting on a shelf:)

Yea, was gonna go that route with my DX7 and an extra RX laying aruond, just don't like having steering on the same stick as my throttle.
Probably just going to go with the Lansu, can't beat the one button switch of the steering modes on the TX.

so did anyone succesfully bind the E710 Rx with a different TX?

upgrading to lipo and it keeps cooking the integrated one that came with the sumo. so im upgrading the electonics. instead of buying a new radio and setting all my cars to that one receiver id like to keep using the lansu for the obvious dual steering option built in. please help me im pulling my hair out on this one!

finally figured it out.
just upgraded electronics (as stated in the reely/redcat sumo bible, simple google search) and ordered the e710. ran throught the bind procedure and BAM **** works great and no more integrated RX and esc. now to figure out how to stop burning up motors lol.
