ehroof, did you do your front already? did you have the same problem with the inner bearing/bushing?

ehroof 06-10-2006 10:14 AM

RE: Ball joint type steering for Volcano?

you will also need different screws for the shocks since they mount differently than the original and also larger screws on the upper arms where they attach to the shock tower. This will work, its just needs a few minor things

RE: Ball joint type steering for Volcano?

that'a what i thought they will work, also you need another shaft for the upper arms, what bushinng/bearing did you use on the c hub?

RE: Ball joint type steering for Volcano?

i didnt use a bushing, it needs a different one, i had the same problem with the front end too, with the gear. This an almost complete upgrade kit, needs more parts though, i put mine together the original way, until we find the parts we need.

#08051, according to the manual posted here it looks like it comes with the linkage. the one you sent doesnt have the linkage that connects the 2 parts of the rear upper arm, it is used to adjust the camber of the tire.

RE: Ball joint type steering for Volcano?

i'am stuck here, the kit sent would need the part ehroof mentioned + the bearings on the svx and the shafts for the front upper a arms. i'am lost at the exploded parts view , i don't see part # for the inner bearing

what exactly do ya need a picture of? the chassis itself?

cartronicshn 06-12-2006 04:02 PM

RE: Ball joint type steering for Volcano?

part number for the inner bearing on the hub carrier, an the shaft for the upper a arm, i imagine the rear inner bearings for the rear hub carriers would be the same as the front ones, also ehroof mentioned "linkage that connects the 2 parts of the rear upper arm, it is used to adjust the camber of the tire", we did get from mark the rear upper arms but not the links

What everyone quit on this effort? ehroof? Mark i didn't receive your e--mail yet. Eric what is the bearing size difference b/w the volcano stx and the svx?

RE: Ball joint type steering for Volcano?

i've got both torn down on my desk right now and all i can tell you is that the new bearings are the same size as the stockers...but the stub axles are different.

08064 is the new PN but it's not in our system yet.

RE: Ball joint type steering for Volcano?

Eric, can you please take a look at the rear upper arm and tell me if it's one piece?
This is item 08051 in the book. As you can see from the attached pic, I have a 2 piece deal and I
can't figure out what goes between the 2 pcs. & I don't see anything in the book. Must be something to udjust the toe in/out or camber?? A picture would also help. Thanks in advance.

Ehroof, I will have to order 02164, 08069,08064,08065,08066. I have the other pcs.
You did not receive 02153?? I double checked my inventory count and it's accurate.
I'm only short 2 of these... 1 sent to you and the other to cartronics. Please confirm and let me know if you still need 02153.

Cartronics, once I get the items I will send them to you both.

it almost looks like it needs the thing that holds the linkages together for adjustment

Will the turnbuckle from a standard link fit it?

It is indeed not one piece. if it were you wouldn't have the camber adjustment;) You have the correct part(s)

yes, the standard link's turnbuckle will fit.

I did check a turnbuckle that was lying around but it was too small (did not thread in).... I'll double check a Volcano to see if the rear turnbuckle is larger.

Thanks,

Mark

Mark...Eyeballin em with a ruler (no, it's not a crappy wooden one and it does have a metric side, too) shows both turnbuckles as 3mm wide@the threads.

I'm not near a truck to check it out. I'll have to see l8tr..... if you would verify the front steering turnbuckes are smaller?
I had a truck torn appart on a table and grabbed the first loose one I found. Didn't bother to compare, I assumed they waz all
the same [:@]

Same diameter, different length.

I'll go double-check with an older Volcano just to make sure...

*BACK*

ok the STX's rear turnbuckles are the same diameter, but shorter...Brainfart on my part, sorry.
