Tornado BB

I have recieved a Tornado BB from Redcat Racing. I have never touched a nitro car in my life. I put my fuel in it adjusted it the way everyone says(I think), but i just can't seem to tune it to run right. I am having very bad luck. I feel like selling it and buying something i know i will love with the money, or can i take it to any hobby shop and have them look at the car and help me tune it??????[:o]I don't want to have a wasted christmas.

you need to break it in first, then tune it, take it to a local shop if you having a hard time

RE: Tornado BB

put it 2 1/2 turns out on the high needle, flush with the collar on the low needle and try staring it. counterclockwise is out.

RE: Tornado BB

I tried to unscrew the idle screw out like you said in my other forum and all it does is loosen the metal piece inside of the carberator, it didn't make it close. Or do u manually push it. And whenever i turn the throttle trim it closed it.

RE: Tornado BB

And could it possibly be the clutch spring, a read a forum about it.

ehroof 01-15-2007 09:35 PM

RE: Tornado BB

try starting it off the ground, if the spring is bad the wheels will turn and when you put it on the ground or use the breaks it will die.

You should do this to reset the carb, if you look down the barrel when the throttle is at full brake position you can see a small gap in the carb barrel if not then you need to turn the idle screw either Clock wise or Counter Clock wise till you have approximatlly a 1 mm gap. Once you have that set go to the low idle screw and be sure that it is set flush with outside edge. Next turn the High idle screw down Clock wise very very carefully till you feel it touch bottom it very important that you don't force it, you will break the needle tip or gouge it, then it will be junk, just be very very careful and feel for the touch down, now back it out counter clock wise 2 1/2 turns and you will have your carb reset to a good begining point to where the engine should start and run right there.

there's a ton of info in this post http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_5271405/tm.htm

I got my car started by this post, first nitro car ever owned. I found that mine started after about 15 pulls with just about factory settings. My dad on the other hand dicked with his and had to use this post to start his car.

If you still can't get it started I'll be more then willing to take it off your hands :D

One more thing, before yanking till your arm falls off, do this before you place the glow starter on the glow plug, you need to prime it if you don't know how here's what we tell people. Place a finger over the tip of the exhaust and give it a few good yanks in short bursts at the same time, you will see fuel flow through the fuel lines to the carb once it hits the carb give it one more pull, now it's primed and you should only have to give it a few more yanks with the glow starter on the glow plug. If it's cold outside you may need to get the engine warm with a hair dryer or take it back in the house and get it back to room temp.

RE: Tornado BB

If your going to run at a track you should probably run a single speed and you won't have so many problems. Onlt time the 2 speed works well is if its a long flat track[&o]

RE: Tornado BB

can i turn my tornado into a single speed what will be the out come

pede_187 11-21-2007 03:08 PM

RE: Tornado BB

Yes you can. A single speed with have more low end power and a little less top end but not that noticeable. It will let you achieve much higher speeds offroad.

RE: Tornado BB

can i turn my tornado into a single speed what will be the out come

you need this: http://www.clermontmotorsports.com/s...ear-set/Detail

and

http://www.clermontmotorsports.com/s...-clutch/Detail

or

http://www.clermontmotorsports.com/s...-vented/Detail

the 2 cluch bells are both steel and will do the same job, the hpi one is vented and which makes it lighter and keeps the clutch shoes cooler. its basically a direct swap

Have you checked the transmitter, on the right side of it to the front should be 2 knobs one is trim for stearing and the other is for throttle make sure its not turned all the way open.

RE: Tornado BB

RE: Tornado BB

You need to adjust the idle screw so it doesnt go forwards when just the engine is running. :)
