well i don't know if your an idiot or not but these things aren't junk. You just need to know how to maintian them, and have experience driving. the spur gear broke because you didn't have it meshed correctly, or you meshed it correctly and didn't loctite the engin mount screws, or you hit a ramp and landed on the rear wheels with too much throttle.

edit: don't fool yourself your so called brand name rc's will have problems with them too, it's just part of the hobbie.

man i have not even messed with it ,nor have i gotten a chance to even jump this whipper snapper.i cant get a chance 2 cause it breaks every time i start it. and i believe the quality of these are not up to par.

these are suppose to run out the box....lmao yea after you dump another 100 dollars into it

i posted in the exceed forum and cant get an answer from them, heres my question is there a way to make my infinity (volcano) wider? would extra wide truggy arms work? and if thery did fit would i just use extra heavy shocks and oil to make up for the 4 lost shocks? i ask this because the COG is very high and i always end up flippin it.....plus,it would look cool as hell :D.i alos saw a guy o here fit savage arms !?@! if so how did he do it,this thing would handle great with those monsters.thanks for any help.josh

RE: Redcat Racing Volcano Thread

winged, i bet you either have it meshed wrong, or you land on the throttle. something is wrong, its not the quality becasue tons of people on here have no problems. do you know how to mesh correctly?

wingedwheel-0420 08-29-2008 07:11 AM

RE: Redcat Racing Volcano Thread

but how do they all of a sudden become un meshed,i never touched it. and no i dont not know how to mesh,if you could explain that would be great. thanks

RE: Redcat Racing Volcano Thread

well are you lock tighting your engine mount screws?

wingedwheel-0420 08-29-2008 02:38 PM

RE: Redcat Racing Volcano Thread

i pulled one screw out and could tell there was locktite on it so i just redid that one only

chevyderek72 08-29-2008 04:41 PM

RE: Redcat Racing Volcano Thread

Well you need to make sure that they are all lock tighted, because the vibration can shake the screws loose. how are yu meshing it?

wingedwheel-0420 08-29-2008 04:44 PM

RE: Redcat Racing Volcano Thread

i dont even know what meshing is

and i marked the screws when i first got it and they havent moved as far as i can tell

ok this is what i do to mesh the gears. i mount the engine with no locktight and with the screws loose. i then put a thin piece of paper between the spur and cb. then move the engine to make the gears contact, push a decent amount, make it snug. then holding the engine right where it is tighten the screws under the chassis. Then pull the piece of paper out, it should be folded like an acordian but it shouldnt tear. then put the car on the ground and push it back and forth, or do it in the air, it should roll smoothly with no binding. then i put a screwdriver on the spur from the left side of the car and the move the clutchbell. there should be a little bit of play in the gears, a small amout, if i had ot guess maybe like just under a mm or so. if there is no play redo it and make it looser, if there is too much play redo it and make it tighter. then once the mesh is set right take one screw out at a time and locktight it, and put it in and do the same with the next 3. you get used to it the more you do it, but thats what i do and ive had my spur for months now and have gone through probably a gallon and half, and the spur is still in great shape

cool thanks, ill let ya know how it goes once i get my part in

RE: Redcat Racing Volcano Thread

thats why ur spur gear stripped because it wasn't meshed correctly, and ur right about these rtr they should be called "artr"(almost ready to run) because you do have to do some little things befor running

wingedwheel-0420 08-30-2008 04:14 PM

RE: Redcat Racing Volcano Thread

artr...yep thats it.

Ok.I am sure this is a simple one for you guys.I am new to this stuff so bear with me. How do you remove the fuel cell? I cracked mine. I was driving my truck in a parking lot and some little kid playing with his 10 dollar remote comntrol spongebob rc took control of my volcano and took it to full speed straight into a curb. ***... His frequency was 27..... on his remote controle...

there are lock nuts underneath and phillips screws on top. you might have to take some stuff off unless you have the right tools to squeez in there. i took my stock tank out(cause it dont hold much)and put in a 160 cc tank, now only if i could get it to run with out breaking

dismyrancho 08-31-2008 11:14 AM

RE: Redcat Racing Volcano Thread

there is two screws holding it in right front and back? What brand tank did you use to upgrade? I had no probs with my truck just a little tuneing out of the box. Ive ran about a half of a gallon before the broken fuel tank

wingedwheel-0420 08-31-2008 11:25 AM

RE: Redcat Racing Volcano Thread

yep. i used a savage xl fuel tank, just had to modify the upper plate a little.5 mins on a fuel tank just wasnt cutting it for me.

dismyrancho 08-31-2008 11:28 AM

RE: Redcat Racing Volcano Thread

Do you remember what you had to remove to get to the Lil nuts inorder to get the tank out

wingedwheel-0420 08-31-2008 11:34 AM

RE: Redcat Racing Volcano Thread

i didnt move anything cause i have these little neddle nose pliers that worked great.or i might have already cut the brace off im not sure.but i bet if you took off the muffler you prolly could get to it easy
ps i have a volcano s30 not sure what you have

or u need some thing to wedge the screw on the bottom and un screw at the top.like a little screw driver just so u could hold the lock nut tight

RE: Redcat Racing Volcano Thread

Quick question. What wheels does everyone use on their Volcano? I'm going to be picking up an EPX Pro and it seems that the front wheels for the Traxxas Stampede/Rustler would be the best fit on all four corners. Am I wrong?

AllAboutFunHobbies 08-31-2008 04:28 PM

RE: Redcat Racing Volcano Thread

Any 2.8 rims and tires will work, if your using the ones for the Traxxas Rustler/Stampede/jato then you want all 4 rears.
