Thanks for those links, I just got my replacement clutch bell this week but I'll order these next. These look pretty durable too. My clutch bell only lasted about half a gallon, is that normal or horrible? The teeth split off the bell so I ended up with the two gears and a short piece of pipe. I also have a smartech speedy tiger and that clutch bell has lasted a while, almost two gallons.

Question: On the tsunami, or any other buggys or trucks for that matter, do we need to have that piece inside the muffler with the holes on it? I took it off cause it felt like it was restricting flow and now the cars fly! I'd say at least 25% increase in speed. I am having to run a little rich on the low speed needle though to keep'er cool. I still have it if I should put it back. Thanks.

I have a customer that blew the spur gears from the bad clutch bell I ordered replacement gears for him and sent them out.
He says they don't fit. here is the part # from redcats site 06032 any one else had this problem. This is turning into a real disaster for
me. He bought 3 trucks and all have had problems becacuse of the clutch bell. Now I have to buy replacement parts from tower
to fix the clutch bells and the parts I sent him from redcat don't fit. Help Please.

the tsunami is a 2 speed and there are 2 spur gears, 6032 and 6033.

I'm confused I thought there was only one spur gear that drives the rear axel. The other gear you list I thought was an option to change the gear ratios to increase top end speed?

No bro, its a 2 speed transmission, so there are 2 gears on the clutch bell and 2 spur gears on the transmission.

anyone know of a wheel that will work w/ this to replace the stock gray wheels?
I would like some dish wheels for the track and chrome for looks.

i put stock rustler rims on mine, just have to do a little plastic removal in the back of the rim.

Heres a Tsunami Truggy conversion. I ordered the front and rear shock towers for the tornado, as well as the wing mount and parts. Now the body sits down lower on frame and truck looks nice. I also went out and bought a pro-line crowd pleazer body today painted it up and the truck looks sweet. Here are some pics:

I bent a dogbone today so thats why its a 2wd setup in the pics, still ran great.

That thing looks sick jblaze i was going to buy a 1/8 sxt truggy from team vertex but i may just do what you done with the tsunami.

I also adjusted the screw on the tranny to stay in 1st gear, truck flies even on just 1 gear. I had it at the track yesterday and it did about 10 cartwheels at about 30mph at the end of the straight away, flipped over a two foot wood wall and landed on all 4, unscaved. I've read some posts that redcat or himoto cars are cheep and break a lot and I was very carefull with the truck when I first got it. After about two months I've only spent about $6 on broken parts and jump and flip it all the time. These things last. Any Tsunami owners out there also have hurricanes or Torpedas, can they also take the beating?

My idle screw backed out an was lost... any idea on a replacement?
I talked to support and they can only sell a new carb.
Also, what the size on the fuel tubing> medium?

medium would be fine, i dont know about the idle screw, that could be a problem

I ordered a volcano front bumper and added it to my tsunami. hopefully it will help it live a little better (maybe not quite so many bent shock rods). I also obviously painted my axles bright yellow!

Don't look at my front bumper...........lol...............ehroof admit it ;)you only use that Tsunami for pictures[:-] you have the cleanest cars in town M8 I like it:D

i have a small compressor i dont use from my shop and a gallon of denatured alcahol and simple green concentrate, i mix like 2/3 denatured and 1/3 simple green, spray it down and blow it off. squeeky clean!!!!

where do they fit though, diff to wheel or trans to front or rear diff?

These are the shafts that go from the transmission to the rear diff. These are the only ones ive actually broken, ive lost one or two of the 08029 83mm axles that go from the diff to the wheel, but havent broken any of those (yet!). They are also the shortest in the car.

diff to wheel = 83mm (redcat 08029)
trans to rear diff = 57mm (redcat lists them as 55 but hpi lists them as 57, either way they work)
trans to front diff = 70mm (redcat 06006)

Question - does anyone have a part number for the Rear body mount posts? the fronts are easy to find, and the volcano uses 4 of the fronts to mount its body, but i cant find anything for the extra long rear mounts, and we have busted 2 of them [:@]

Has anyone seen the Tsunami Ultrawide yet? Where can I get those arms to convert mine? I have been running 1/8 scale at the track only but after seeing a couple crt.5 out there last week I think I'm gonna break out the old nami. I just have to get an engine for it, the .15 from my smartech is here in pieces but I have no pull starter for it, Ill try to get in on my starter box and see if that works. I'm looking for the plastic arms cause I know they last, I never broke one on my original, and the aluminums will probably be $30-$40 for the pair.

can anyone tell me if the SH.18 engine is better than the VX.18 and if its worth it for an upgrade or another engine that would be a good upgrade?

i have heard alot of good things about the sh .18, its definately better than the vx, i run os .18 cvrx's when it comes time to replace my engines though, i think i will try the sh out on my next try and see how it is.

I'm in the process of hooking up a XTM aka SH engine on a Tsunami..........probably a couple of weeks because its been busy around here (thank goodness) but I'll give you the set up when I have it..........Oh and the engine drops right in, its the exhaust I need to figure out:eek:

Well, I got the 13/18 clutchbell installed. Sick! runs sooo much better than before. I can smoke the other tsunamis we have from a stop now no problem, and it makes jumping and climbing hills soooo much easier. I will type up a thread with detailed install info, part numbers, and pics for future reference because that should come stock.

Anyways...

Also got my aluminum pipe and installed it this weekend. Its the one offered from redcat. I did the clutchbell first, tuned it and ran it stock exhaust. HUGE difference. Then, i went back and put the pipe on. Had to do a good bit of retuning, but it was WORTH IT! The pipe made a suprising difference. Incase anyone asks, that is regular old auto heater hose holding it in place.

Then, it rained :( but we went out afterwards to a local park and thrashed the baseball field pretty good

Had to spend about 20 minutes cleaning it after I got home last night. Good times with the Tsunami!

nice, that 13/18 bell makes a big difference, did you use the needle bearing or regular bearings, also did you cut down a tension pin on the screw or did you use something else.

actually I used 2 5x8 bearings (bought a set of 10 from tower) and used 2 of the 5x8 hpi bushings you had linked to in the other thread. didnt need any spacer, used the stock screw and washers. works great. i have enough bearings and spacers to do the rest of our tsunamis. right now the clutch bell can slide off the bearings if you take the motor off, but once installed it obviously cant move. I am going to make my own bushing that is the thickness of the two bushing installed now, but that will press inside the clutch bell so it will never be able to move
