Tuning

I ran this truck today (used) and it seems like it wants to move right as soon as it starts, and it dies as when you hit the brake. I dont belive the starting part is normal and I cant find the thread about tuning. ANy help is awesome.

NExt 2 questions lol. Does anyone have a picture or could take a picture of how the battery pac and reciever fit in the itty bitty box? I have a himoto and am not entirely sure how it all fits in especially since i now have a fail safe and I think I will need to trim off a piece and put it putside the box. Next question is, I talked with the guy who had the truck before me and he really played with the jetting. What are the factory or normall turns for the carb?

RE: Tuning

2 1/2 out on the high needle, flush with the collar on the low needle, and you will have to mount the failsafe on the outside

RE: Tuning

I have everything in the receiver box and fits fine (failsafe, receiver, and hump pack)

I must say you did a nice job of cramming that stuff in there. Lots of patience? or just luck?

no its a futaba

the futaba reciever is smaller than the stock redcat one, thats why you can fit it in there. With the stock equipment you could never fit a failsafe in there too.

If your glow plug starter is almost dead what type of starting problems may occur? i.e. wont stay running etc... . Im trying to tune it and just noticed that the battery is dead so Im charging it. I had set everything to base settings and im hopping this is the problem.

it wont start or be very hard to start. once its running, the starter has nothing to do with it.

Who's starting it might:D

RE: Tuning

Ok, this is where I'm at. It will start then run for 3-5 seconds and when i remove the ignitor (even if it says on there) it dies. Ive turned the high speed out as little as 1 3/4 turns and the low speed needle flush, and it still dies. I have fuel comming out the exhaust as well.

RE: Tuning

You may want to try putting a new glow plug in. A hotter one I've heard is better for these small engines.

mozzzy_2000 05-12-2007 11:40 PM

RE: Tuning

yes try a new plug and fuel out the pipe indicates a rich LSN.

cdextreme 05-13-2007 12:13 AM

RE: Tuning

How far in is it ok to go with he LSN?

Chubbysdad 05-13-2007 08:44 AM

RE: Tuning

just go a bit at a time and run it.

ehroof 05-13-2007 09:03 AM

RE: Tuning

change with an os a3 plug, these engines like the hot plugs

cdextreme 05-13-2007 09:30 AM

RE: Tuning

Thanks. I got it runnng but it will die at full throttle. If I turn he screw out (richen) it dies, if it turn it in it dies. Maybe Im too impatient? Fuel line too long?
