Time to tune?
Anybody in Louisville KY feel like tuning a Hurricane XP? Sounds lazy, I know, lol. Too much work and no time to play. I'm new to the area and don't know of any shops that would/could. I miss my baby [:o] Rider . |

RE: Time to tune?
Thanks ehroof... I'm gonna watch those at the airport this afternoon. Probably would be more helpful if I could have my Hurricane there though. I had her runnin' perfect about a month ago. Then I started up and all of a sudden she was acting as if there was too much gas flooding in durring accelerations. Next thing I know, I can start her up and idle for a long period of time, but stall after just feathering the throttle. Full throttle would stall imediately. I'll have to take some time and watchthose videos. I miss just starting up and running for an hour or so, lol. Thanks, Rider . |
RE: Time to tune?
your welcome bro, changes in temprature and humidity can change the tune of an engine.
|
RE: Time to tune?
Those vids are very helpful.
I hope you do know that fuel can go bad if it sits too long. |
RE: Time to tune?
oh yeah, but if you leave it in a cool dry place your usually ok for a little while.
|
RE: Time to tune?
The fuel I'm using might be 5 weeks old by now. But when the probs started happening... it was only a week old at most. Rider . |
RE: Time to tune?
nah thats fresh. It would definately be tuning I'd say. You guys are going into Summer so a lot can happen in a couple of weeks weather wise. Having said that, some engines are so sensitive to atmospheric conditions that they can go out of tune really really quickly.

RE: Time to tune?
yea because i have the same problem with my vx 18 motor it goes out of tune really easily and there is allways problems with it not running rite

RE: Time to tune?
Watch these and tune your own vehicle, lol movie #1- http://youtube.com/watch?v=oSmMzpZM_As movie #2- http://youtube.com/watch?v=BJFsJAxNoRg Hmmm... tragic day for the Hurricane. Everything went well for about 2 minutes. Anyone have experience with RedCat's engine exhange program??? Rider . |
RE: Time to tune?
what happened?
|
RE: Time to tune?
Broken piston arm. It looks like it was torn apart by the gremlin that lived inside engine... it ain't pretty, lol. Anyone want to buy a fairly new Hurricane XP (j/k (maybe)). New body, rims and tires... sans engine. It was fast and only had about 6 hours of run time. I don't think I should have run into this problem so soon. Oh well. How well does RedCat (Himoto) stand behind their product? Rider . |
RE: Time to tune?
I would like to know if that engine exchange program really works?
|
RE: Time to tune?
broken connecting rod... usually fails if the engine is flooded and turned over to a point where it "hydraulics" and lock up the engine, something has to give.
Redcat offers lifetime engine replacemant at half price, no qusetion asked, with the exchange of your engine. http://www.redcatracing.com/engineprogram.asp |
RE: Time to tune?
I dono if i would like to send in an engine, and money.. then sit and wait.. pfff. I would need to talk to someone, get a RO# or something, tracking on the engines.. you know.
