Was just wondering becasue I saw this on EBAY http://cgi.ebay.com/RC-NITRO-GAS-VOL...QQcmdZViewItem
I just got an email back from the seller and he said that that is only for 1/10 redcats[:o] Would it be possible to get a 2 speed for the monsoon or possibly make one (if that's possible)?

Chubbysdad 10-01-2007 06:15 PM

RE: Redcats Monsoon Thread

anything is possible but could I ask why? Just to be different? You wont need a 2 speed with a truggy.

cen123 10-01-2007 06:18 PM

RE: Redcats Monsoon Thread

In a way yes...to be different. I like experimenting with the cars to see what happens. May I ask if anyone knows why the 2 speed won't work?

Chubbysdad 10-01-2007 06:20 PM

RE: Redcats Monsoon Thread

I am not saying it wont work. You will just have to make one up. I personally just dont think it is worth the time but that is just an opinion.

RE: Redcats Monsoon Thread

NO, I mean the hobby shop said the 1/10 2 speed won't work with 1/8. Why not?

Chubbysdad 10-01-2007 06:42 PM

RE: Redcats Monsoon Thread

totally different setups. He is right it wont work.

Even if you did manage to get it to work somehow it would get torn to shreds within seconds.

here are some pics of the mod i did on my vtx, its very simple, i used a 1/4'' drill bit then a file. you can use a cutting bit, hacksaw, jigsaw, your teeth (if they are strong enough), just about anything. just extend the flywheel hole about another 1/2 inch to the front of the vehicle. then use a bump start engine or cut the backplate to slide in between the engine mount, gonna need a starter box after that, the holes for the pull starter will be gone. maybe the top two holes alone will work if you want to try it.

Hi guys.
Here in Australia it is sold as a HSP Swarm truggy. Around the same dollars here as well.
Here is mine next to my Hyper ST. Mine has the Infinity .27 as standard. 2.7 HP @ 41000 rpm. It screams. Have changed servos and transmitter, 100wt rear and 80wt front on the shocks with extra preload on the springs. No problems yet.
Here it is beside my Hyper ST for comparison.

I have tried finding those yellow wheels but cannot find them anywhere. Is there a place where you are that can get them? Any pics of the chassis and suspension? Just curious if there are some little differences.

wefishtoo 10-27-2007 04:37 PM

RE: Redcats Monsoon Thread

The wheels came with the truggy. Poor quality however. The yellow drove me nuts so i tried to remove tyres by soaking in acetone, which i have done many times, but the wheels dissolved. Go figure. Never happened before.
Here is a forum in Australia which is dedicated to the HSP brand where parts are readily available. Look under SWARM. Very helpful and knowledgable guys.

Here are some pics/review i did for the forum comparing my Swarm and the Hyper ST as i was one of two who first got them here in Australia.

Awesome!! I like the site. Lot of info. I will be posting there soon. I wanted to ask what do you think of the swarm compared to the hyper?

RE: Redcats Monsoon Thread

next time try boiling the tires insead of acetone, i boil them for 15 minutes and the tires come right off, just dont do it to chrom rims since it will dull them right out and give them a satin type finish.

vnmsgt 10-27-2007 07:23 PM

RE: Redcats Monsoon Thread

I do pretty good peeling them off with a razor blade. I know it is harder but I am afraid if I boil them I will mess the rims up.

ehroof 10-27-2007 07:40 PM

RE: Redcats Monsoon Thread

i have never had a problem except with the chrome dulling, its a little safer than a razor blade, lol

RE: Redcats Monsoon Thread

The hyper is better finished. but not $200+ different. The hyper radio gear is far better. But the swarm radio gear works ok. There is a quality difference in finish , but i like both truggys. The infinity 27 is better than the hyper mach 28 by a mile. Revs out to 41000rpm. Not bad for a 75buck engine. I am thinking of replacing one of the sts 30's in one of my inferno GT on roads with the infinity 27
I have just traded up to the hyper st pro RTR with the hyper 28 turbo engine. No comparison with the swarm. The hyper pro is streets ahead. Almost worth the $300 difference.
