RE: Redcats Monsoon Thread
Just got my monsoon from clermont hobby and it has been way more then I expected it to be. The only issue I had was during break in when I could not get it to run more than 10 seconds at a time. Blistered my hands pullstarting it through two tank fulls and trying to see why it would not stay running when I found out the hole from the exhaust pipe that goes to the fuel line to pressurize the tank was never drilled out. I had no pressure to tank and had to keep priming it. Drilled out the hole myself and used a set screw on the end to only allow exhaust pressure to tank and it runs fine now. Redcat is supposed to be sending my lhs a new pipe for me no questions asked, Great service their. And one other small issue was when I changed the shock oil, one nut inside a shock had come loose but no big deal. Great truggy and a bargain.

RE: Redcats Monsoon Thread
Ciao, i have a Searover by HSP (the taiwan factory that made the truggy for Smartech Redcats and Himoto ) it's the same of the Monsoon ,and i think that it's very strong.
The truggy run and jump ,jump and run and never crash; moreover it has a nice price. My vote is 8/10 If you want see a video panoramic of this truggy please go here: [link=http://video.google.it/videoplay?docid=-5769426355565723077]Searover[/link] |
RE: Redcats Monsoon Thread
Love that panoramic video!! have not heard that song on it in years! Where can I get the yellow wheels you have on that? Is there a site for that truck or know anyone who sells those wheels?

RE: Redcats Monsoon Thread
Anyone have the aluminum upgraded arms on the monsoon yet. I was wondering if they are actually heavier than the stock arms and how do they hold up when you crash. I have been told that when you put aluminum arms on some cars that when you crash the arms will break other parts on the car becuase the aluminum arms do not give or flex any. Are they worth buying?
|
RE: Redcats Monsoon Thread
no they are not worth buying lol.
|
RE: Redcats Monsoon Thread
they look like the proline wheels with 1/2 " offset but I believe they are the chinese copy of them lol.

RE: Redcats Monsoon Thread
Is there a Two Speed for a Monsoon? I am looking to get a Monsoon but I think it would be too slow.
|
RE: Redcats Monsoon Thread
Itsnot slow, probally near 40mph. Im writing the official RCU review of the monsoon, it will have a gps top speed report. This is going to be a good review!
|
RE: Redcats Monsoon Thread
When will the review come out?
|
RE: Redcats Monsoon Thread
It is slow right now, but once the new clutchbells come out, that will change. The 10 tooth is geared way to low.

RE: Redcats Monsoon Thread
Anyone had any problems with the foam inside there stock tires. After about a month I noticed that 2 of my tires feel like half of the foam is missing inside. They are very soft in a couple of spots feeling like they are empty. I had this problem only once before on a ofna buggy I had but only one tire and when I took the tire off 3/4 of the foam was gone!, no particles or anything inside the tire. Ofna warranteed the tire for me but could not say what it was from. I called redcat about this and they said they could not warranty it but I would like to know if I am doing something wrong to cause this. I just spent 80 on proline wheels and crimefighter tires for my mantis and will probably by the same for my monsoon but do not want to mess those up either.
|
RE: Redcats Monsoon Thread
There is a lot less trouble with aftermarket foam for inside the tires. But I have found the high speed on the street with pin type or knobby tires, they get so hot they sometimes melt the foam. There are other inherent problems but just don't buy cheap foam[:o]
|
RE: Redcats Monsoon Thread
The bad thing is I do not think I can replace just the foam becuase I read before that someone tried removing the tires from the same set of wheels that I got which come in chrome on the monsoon and it actually distorted the rim and messed up the chrome on them.
|
RE: Redcats Monsoon Thread
That's a problem and if it were mine to take care of I would very carefully strip the tires off without hurting the rim and glue some new ones on with good foams in them.[&o]

RE: Redcats Monsoon Thread
how much ground clearance (inches) does the monsoon have? I currently have a stampede and is good for where I drive it but, how much does the monsoon have? I would be driving on a rocky area.
|
RE: Redcats Monsoon Thread
the monsoon is set up more for track riding. It sits really low.
|
RE: Redcats Monsoon Thread
In that case whats the ground clearence of the earthquake or avalanche? whats the top speed?
|
RE: Redcats Monsoon Thread
I dont have any more earthquakes or avalanches in stock to measure the ground clearance sorry. Hopefully someone who has one will post that. When my shipment arrives I will post the info if nobody hasnt posted already.

RE: Redcats Monsoon Thread
