Tsunami / Volcano Chassis
Anybody know if their is an aluminum chassis available for the electric tsunami or volcano ? I installed a brushless system on mine and smacked into a curb and totaled the chassis....great fun !
Thanks |

lmao, i did the same thing on my torndo epx with the brushless too, i hit hard though, into a phone pole at full throttle, with a 7.4 lipo, 4900 mah, i heard thru the grapevine that there may be a carbon fiber chassis available one day

Custom make one maybe? I thought of that too.

Yeah the tsunami hit the curb pretty fast, just didn't know that it would of done so much damage.... as I am a newbie to RC's.
By the way, who would be making this carbon fiber chassis??? I would love to know. |
RE: Tsunami / Volcano Chassis
redcat, mine cracked right across the front.

Does anybody know of a place where you could get chassis blanks ? Mabey I could use a bandsaw and drill to make my own ?

RE: Tsunami / Volcano Chassis
chassis blanks?

RE: Tsunami / Volcano Chassis
I dont know what else you would call it. But some rigid sheet that someone could cut and drill the same pattern as a stock chassis plate but much much stronger

Hey Ehroof ....
Did the GRAPEVINE mention a Carbon Fibre chassis for the Monsoon? That would be very nice indeed! I would definitely buy one.. |
RE: Tsunami / Volcano Chassis
You can probably find something at a hardware store to make a new chassis. If you were looking to go the metal route. It may take some time to make it unless you have a fabrication shop around you, they can always make what ever you need.

I went to my LHS today and they had an HPI chassis that might fit. But rather than paying $30 for one that might not even fit, I'm going to make one myself

I might extend the chassis about an inch when I make it. With the combination of the Tsunami Ultra Wide (2 inches wider) arms and the extended chassis, this thing is going to handle really good.

If you can't find something that fits, Google "Carbon Fibre Sheet" and you'll find a tonne of places that you can buy flat carbon fibre sheets in all different thicknesses. It'll be a little expensive but it's available. It will also be difficult to get that little up-turn on the front of the chassis.
I do have a purple aluminum Tsunami Chassis in Stock that should work with some minor customizing...$17 Canadian...no tax. Rob Redcat Dealer Vancouver, BC Canada Email: [email protected] |

This may be a bit late, but if you are still looking, see link below for where to buy blank aluminum sheet. I made a new chassis for mine and it's far better than stock. The stock is made from 6061-T6; my new one is 7075-T6 (aircraft alloy) and it's nearly twice as strong.
