Default help! New to e-flite what to order for SPAD

Good morning all! I am brand spanking new into indoor e-flight. I have a SPAD (I believe that is what you call it). The person that is helping me said to go to Hobby King and order a 370 motor, ESC,battery, props, and 3 micro servos. I went to their website and am very confused. They have not answered the phone to help me. Can you guys help me out? Apparently they have extremely competitive prices on items, I presume from China?

What would you get for this little indoor flyer?

Any other fairly cheap plane you would have me look at?

The people letting me use their gym (local school system) is skittish about damage I may do in the gym, as am I. I told them that there is just no mass or inertia to these and not to worry but I am worried. Help me Rhonda!

Steve

They are China time so have to look at their site 10pm and you'll see
live online help.
Other than that just go thru motors pick 370, then esc, then servos , then rec,
then connectors rods if needed clevises, then pappal it.
Not hard just tedious.

OK. Thanks for that. I have no clue as to what I want in brand for motor, no idea about speed control or battery or servos. Anyone have any specific models/#s to order on these items?

Any reccomendations for this size plane?

Thanks

Steve

First off, this SPAD of yours, is it a biplane or is it a square of thin foam about 20 inches a side??

[link=http://spadworld.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=18070&highlight=]Here's[/link] a recent thread over on the SPADworld site by Joe Wiseman who just did your plane at a club meeting and by the end of the meeting was flying said plane with two others in combat. What you have is essentially an electric Pizza Box Flyer. You might get more questions answered in the foam or electric forum also in the 3D forum. We started off with a bigger piece of foam as the original Pizza Box then Dave McDonald went to town and brought us the Coro PBF's and then electrics have come a long way and the gas PBF's are now built in Fan Fold Styrofoam with differeing power packs. I still screw with the foam ones myself but have been thinking about cutting out a foam one or two. My old Tuit is worn, heavy and the batteries are shot. I just don't seem to be able to keep a decent Lipoly alive myself.

You wouldn't have been the first person by the way to have been talking about the biplane. There was a SPAD's over the west coast event where a feller drove quite a long distance to see all the SPADs and although he was still entertained with all the plastic airplanes, was a little dis-appointed there weren't any WWI models to be seen.

Thanks for the link. That is not what I have. Maybe it is not a spad. It has a fuselage and looks like a conventional plane,.....sort of. It is made out of foam, has rectangular wings about15 inches per side. Not much to it though. If the guy told me to get a 370 motor does that help for what I need for battery and speed control?

Probably will in the Electrics forum here. [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/default.asp?forumid=227]Electric RC Universe[/link] is the link to this sites Electrics section. I'm not trying to get rid of you mind you, I'm trying to get you to the place that gets the most attention and answers your question. A picture of your plane would also be helpful either here or there.

One last thing. Is it [link=http://www.spadtothebone.com/SPAD/espa3d/espa3d.htm]THIS [/link] one? The Espad3d? You power answers are the same for me if you don't find them there. But it don't hurt to get as much info and activity in the right place to get your questions answered by the right person.

The specs on each motor are on hobbyking.
Somebody could tell you which to use, but
in the long run you're better off learning how to choose.
Weigh the plane, i been using grams because it's simple.
Then choose servo, add weight of those.
Choose motor, add that weight.
And on for the rest of the components.
The hobbyking site also has some recommendations on what size plane
the motor works on, like motor will work on plane 400-700 g. g =grams.
I just ordered a motor of of hobbyking just picked one that had good reviews.
All this chinese stuff, most of it is probably a crapshoot.
