Wire LG For QHOR
Dumb question
Is anybody using wire for a LG on any of the hor type planes? I did a search but didn't really find anything.
If anybody is using them, can ya post a pic of how you shaped it and attached it?
Thanks,

Wire LG For QHOR
I just used 1/8 music wire on a small (3.6 pounds) SPA3D.
Bend a big hair pin, top flat (square) about 3" wide.
Remove the two screws holding the U-channel to the mount and drill two holes for the LG. (3" apart).
Route a 1/8" slot on top between the holes, so the flat top of the wire (hair pin) will fit down tight under the U-channel.
You now have two long wires that need to be bent outwards
(I used a 1' section of 1/4" tube to make the bends. about 40deg) I used a vice when making the bends for the wheels.
Used hardware from the LHS to install foam wheels.
For a larger plane, you might want to use 5/32" wire.
I just upoaded a few more pics to member gallery 'rlt55'
----------
Had many lead brick dead sticks this evening and bent the 1/8 wire back a bunch. (Had to re-bend it).
So, next time, I'll use fatter wire. The 1/8 might be better on 2 pounds (and under) planes.
The engine was working great until the clunk got stuck forward!
Never saw it until I was pumping out the tank to leave!
