Cool plane, Noxam. I'm building one with yellow surfaces and green cutting board, too. Is the green cutting board weaker than the white? I'm using American Chef. How did it fly before the crash?

Yellow is the color I'm going for too.... The green accent color of the board looks cool with the Futuba.

The green cutting board just didn't cut it!!!! Ha HA HA! It is not American Chef brand and as you can see, it snapped right at the front of the fuse. White appears to be the way to go. Flies great other than that! And yes that is grass on the wing, my gear is a little to short for the 11x4 prop and that is the result. And as far as my hovering helper - it's all legal!!!

Noxam, what is your AUW? Did you deviate from Tattoo's instructions?

AUW? Not sure what that means. I didn't deviate from Tattos plan other than the cutting board, the rods through the wing and I used wire landing gear. I couldn't find the same size rod as he used in the wing so I used one a 1/16 bigger. If it's weight your loooking for, it is right around what Tatoos is, 5lbs or so. Hovers at half throttle, takes off at 3/4 - full throttle.

All Up Weight. Thanks, Noxam. I'm shooting for 4 to 4.5 lbs. I'm going to try and lighten the fuse. I found some fiberglass rod that may replace the 5/32 music wire called for.

hey, nice plane

um, im thinking about building one of these spads, and this spa3dt looks like a winner as far as how strong it looks.(and from what i hear)

do you guys think i could learn to fly with this?
i fly choppers so its not too much different from what it seems like on the sim
an other reason is that it doesn't need any glue and could be built and flown in the same day

It was an off brand poly cutting board. I got it because it was green and didn't pay to much attention to the thickness. It was quite a bit thinner and more flexible than the American Chef board I got yesterday - probably why TaToo says to use them!

This weekend a chopper guy in my club flew his first trainer. He did the take off and landings by himself.
No training cord, but there was an IP standing beside him.

The QHOR might be a better trainer, but if you feel the need for speed, the SPA3DT will do the trick.
I fly two SPA3Ds and they are a blast. I'm a new (to glow and SPAD) pilot that used to think
gliders were fun. Now I know what fun-flying really is!
