Default Doctile?

Is the spa3dt a doctile enough airplane to be a second? I will be flying an avistar first.

Does it fly slow? Thanks

it kinda sinks fast when it gets slow it doesnt float but if you have DR and are extreamly good with your avi then go ahead i think the UCD would be better though.

A SPAD3D flies almost completely differently than any conventional aircraft. The UCD doesn't really even come close to flying the same.

My SPAD3d would rather hover than fly strait and level. It is actually harder to make it fly in a strait line than it is to flip flop all over the sky.

Even with what I just said I would still say go for it. I had only soloed about 2 months earlier before I started flying mine. It is hands down my favorite windy day plane.

By all means try it,

$20 worth of material and a few hours. This is the plane you want to learn 3D stuff on. With the right tweaking, you can make this plane fly level, but you wont find yourself flying that way often. I went through three arfs and a tufflight enduro before building my SPA3D and until I started flying my spad, I flew allright but was never really comforitable and actually became afraid to try anything cause I was smashing $150 planes beyond repair.

I'll try anything with my SPA3D and not be afraid of the outcome. I just bring lots of propellers.

Dolcile? Not really. (Hope you have Expo on your radio)

If you crash your balsa trainer before you get enough hours,
you might want to start out with a QHOR. It's a great SPAD Fun-Fly trainer.
It's a bit easier to fly and just as much fun as a SPA3D.

I have two SPA3Ds, but my winter plane (skis) is the old QHOR.

PS:
The 3/4" rail planes (SPA3D & QHOR) are much easier and faster to build
than planes using a tube fuse. (Unless you have a machine shop)
