crazy idea
maybe this has been done a bunch before. but has any one made a plane that has landing gear on the top and bottom. so that you could land inverted or right side up. not sure what to do with the tail feathers. I figured if anyone has tried it it would be the spadders. just thought it would be a crazy idea

RE: crazy idea
its been done. Termagator here did it several years ago on a profile funfly. But, there's no reason you couldn't do it on a spad - just put a wire skid on the top of the rudder.
edit: the plane wasn't a spad - it was a balsa funfly. it was a knife or protwister if i remember.

There is a full scale Pitts S2B called the "Double Take" that was modified to land inverted. I saw it perform in Salinas, CA in the late 80s. He would take off upright, land inverted, get out, get back in and take off inverted. Pretty cool to watch.
I've landed my spa3d upside down several times. Even a few on purpose but it dosen't have a second set of gear.

RE: crazy idea
I see somewhere somebody put every thing (servo and LG) upside down and he was acclaim at his club the best inverted pilot
Maybe I need to do that for great low pass.

RE: crazy idea
I saw in one of my magazines (can't remember which one ) were a guy took two trainers and mounted one upside down over the other to make a twin biplane. Looked like it would be hard to keep up with the orientation.
