FX_B.U.F.F. STIX 80" WS with LA46
This is my new FX-B.U.F.F. I purchased from FX Hobbies. The shipping crate is perfect. You could see it had been kicked around a little but the plane received no damange. Balancing the plane with LA46 not easy. Battery and receiver right behind fuel tank. 4-40 rear push rods too heavy. Had to use fiberglass with 2-56 ends. I have one word to describe the BUFF with an LA46, PARKFLYER!! Very slow flyer. When landing, it glides for weeks. For takeoff, you need a fair amount of runway. So if you want to laze around the sky on a calm day, it's fine. NOT A PLANE FOR A WINDY DAY!! Almost lost it. I'm guessing steady 5mph with 10 mph gusts. Too much wing, not enough power. I think with more power it would be more predictable and would help the balancing problem. I'll keep you posted on new engine trials.
P.S. I would like to thank Frank and all the people at FX Hobbies for all the time he's put into this plane . Great Job!!

Very interesting. I've been thinking of building a plane similar to this for doing AP. I currently have a Debonair, and the dimensions of the fuselage are similar. It looks like its basically a Debonair with an oversized wing. I can't tell from the pictures - is the wing an RNAF style, with the top extending beyond the bottom?, or is it simply a 2mm top with ribs forming the cambered wing? Pics would be nice.
Thanks,
Brad
