Has anyone built a spad biplane using a thick type kids ball bat? the large diameter ones look like they would make a nice 30's era biplane. Some wire gear and the front would have a nice round cowl look to it...

I like the way you think out of the box. That sounds like a heck of a project. Are you planning on taking it on as a winter project; if so, please post a few pictures.

You've been bitten by the SPAD BUG. Don't fight it, just build it.

A while back on [link=http://spadworld.net/]SPADWORLD[/link] "Mona" used one of the huge red bats to build a plane, but I don't think it was a biplane. You could use his technique and add the second wing. I agree, the bat would give it that cool cowled radial look.
