I used WalMart chopping board, a 3.5 gallon bucket (?), 4 oz fuel tank, 3x4 Rail Road tie, 1/2 in threaded rod and brass wing nut/washer. I epoxied the rod into the wood.
You can also turn the board around for another size engine!
There are also 2 layers of styrofoam packing peanuts to take up volume and same weight. I never know what to do with them things...

Elwood,
Nice job! Very "SPAD" and innovative!
Blue skies,
DL
BTW I'd increase the wing area a WHOLE bunch, and try a hand launch on a REALLY windy day! :stupid:

Wow. that is extreme. while you were at walmart you could have bought a $10.00 fan for your daughters bedroom. that is pretty loud just for a cool breeze.

She needs a haircut!
I did it this way since I am either in a Townhouse or Apartment, depending on what city I am in. This is very portable, unless 40 pounds of cement is a little much.

I want to make a engine mount for my car (hitch mount maybe) maybe then I will get a little more boost out of it. Hey that's not a bad idea for doing field testing. I don't think an rc engine will move my diesel much.

Just a note about vibration. There was some when the Norvel .15 was around 7,000 to 12,000 rpm. It was smoooooth at 17,000! I would either use another bolt to hold it to the wood, or move the hole closer to the engine.
Other than that, it was a great thing to use today!
