Default best electric setup for PBF

I know someone out there must have some specs for a good flying electric PBF. Nothing too esoteric or exotic. Just a good solid setup. I am gettting ready to go on a Bush funded vacation to the middle east and would like to take a plane with me to help pass the off time. Thanks!!!

Did you use the great planes gear reduction box?? What size prop seemed to work the best?? Thanks for the info-from what I've seen so far on the endoplamsa it looks promising!!--Mike

Try the gd600 gearbox with a 10t pinnion (you'll have to get this gear from mec or Gary Wright). Then a 12X8 APC e-prop. With the 10cell pack, this setup should rock.

Yeah, you can get away without the MEC gearbox (kinda pricey). The gd600 w/10 tooth pinion will rock. Hmmmm, the 12x8 might be too much speed, ya have to experiment, maybe a 13x4 glow.

Actually the 12x8 will make it rock. A 13x4 will make it into a rock! They put the 12x8 on this power system on 3D planes.

Yeah, it's a very popular setup for electric 3d, has abilities very close to some ultra expensive brushless setups, yet uses a $20 car motor. The 12X8 does push the motor to the edge, but it seems to handle it well I've heard, you just gotta change brushes once in awhile. Go on ezone and do a search, you'll find all sorts of info on this setup. Should work great for a PBF, because it should remain light enough with a 10 cell pack to really put on a show equal to a .40 glow engine. I have everything but the 10t gear, it's just been sitting in a drawer. I might try an E-PBF as well. An E-Qhor would be cool, but more difficult to get it as light. Under 50 oz. AUW is ideal. The setup alone is around 30 oz. I believe. That 10 cell pack is heeeavy.
