(ok. total newbie with a thought)
Crow Idea...
-split flaps in half on each side of wing
-install controll horns on each half and set each side up
like a one servo aileron wing would be
-Ycord the two flap servos...Crow, right?

I'm thinking of trying this on a Deb wing so someone please tell me if I am making a huge oversight or something here.

Tatoo:
can't let you all forget that Kraut's working hard on the plans!
I have a sneaking hunch that there are dozens of us that are trying to wait patiently to see the plans .
Just a bill of materials for the corro sizes and how to have it cut for shipping would be nice.

I would scale it down a bit...........maybe with a 65 - 70 inch wingspan. I think a .60 would fly mine - but barely! The Ryobi setup weighs 5 pounds (mount, firewall, prop adapter and all).....so with a .60 - you might have a hard time getting the CG to come in.

Kraut,
You still got my interest. Still with the original tail or did the stab get a redo? Yeahhhhhh perfection takes time.

I made a new flat tail made from two layers of Coroplast. I still haven't had a chance to fly it - but hopefully this Friday I'll get her back in the air. I am very optimistic that the new tail will work fine.

BTW - the plans are still very much "work in progress" - just running behind!

Default Big Bad Spad

I have built and flown two of the Ultra Stiks in the past...I think I have found a SPAD to build.......well, maybe I should start on something smaller since it's my first SPAD!

Hurry with the plans Kraut.......

How tall are you? Trying to figure out what the wingspan is on that plane.

I ended up (till 2AM last night) making a smaller version. I looked at the Tower .40 and .20 and made an educated decision on a .60 size (since it is hanging out waiting for my 4*60 to be built...long story )
Anyway, I whipped up a 6' wing last night and today I should be able to finish the rest and get her ready for Wed or Thursday.

I'll post some pictures once I get my camera workign right....

CJ - I'm 6' 1" (OK - 6' 3/4" ) . The Ultra SPADStick has an 81" wingspan.

Crash>

I've built about 7 SpadSticks now of various sizes and wing locations (high wing and low wing). To scale it up and down I made this spreadsheet:

http://www.rcsites.net/qcoldir/spadstick.xls

Right click on that link and select SAVE.

It has worked well. I made them as small as 40 inch span and up, over 50 inches.

Here's a small, 40 inch high wing:

And a 50 inch low wing:

You guys cut Kraut some slack, and i mean now. Keep in mind he works a full time job rebuilding jet engines for the US military, has a wife, and a family, and has day to day responsibilities like the rest of us.
I will assure you that Kraut is working as hard as he can getting the plans done.

I will assure you that Kraut is working as hard as he can getting the plans done.

And on top of all this, he has got to deal with his celebrity status as a SPAD God!!! Ah the painful price of fame

It is very true though, poor Kraut is so overworked, he had to give away his flying porsche, on condition that the person getting it must draw up the plans. So we have not one but TWO sets of plans coming soon thanks to Kraut. Lets give him more slack guys, besides if you read back it looks like he is experimenting with the desgin to find the best configuration, which will benefit all of us when his plans are done.

Actually I am not waiting for these plans, but am actually waiting for his next amazing design
