Any Cheap Lost Plane Finder?
Lost my QHOR in the tall grass last week due to a bad servo connector. After spending about an hour in very tall, wet weeds field, I need to find a better solution. I know you can get a nice alarm for under $20. But is it possible to get a solution for under $5 ?

If you like to solder, make your own.

I got the ICs as free samples and the rest of the parts from the junk box. (Vertor board etc).
I made a couple of these and they worked a lot better than the Towerhobbies model (It beeps like crazy for no reason half the time). If you just happen not to move the servo that's in line with the board for (30 seconds?), it starts beeping and you have to land the plane, cycle the power switch to stop the beeping. Happens a lot with gliders!
Mine started dying after about 3 months, so I stripped it for parts.

If you are anything like me, by the time your plane is built you have lost about a quart of blood by slicing open your fingers with renegade razor blades. The blood tends to get on the plane. Then all you need is a bloodhound.

I have a simple design that uses the Microchip 12C508A. It solely controlled by a timer. After 18-20 minutes it starts beeping. Most flights don't last this long and if you leave the switch on it beeps so you know to turn it off. I can furnish a programmed 12C508A chip for $7 shipped.

The plane I mentioned above has been retrofitted to it's owner, in other words, it's been resolved and no longer lost. Thank you all who responded.
