Default Tucson RCPRO Warbird Race

Hi all,

The Tucson Warbird Race will be held on Dec. 4, 2010 with registration starting at 8:00 am. It will be held at the TIMPA flying field on Reservation Rd. RCPRO rules and this year we were able to have the 4 cycle muffler rule canceled so open pipes are ok. Early registrstation would be a big help.

Thanks

That's good news about the 4 stroke muffler rule. That's got to help fill out the Gold class.

Some of the folks may want to see the rules. They can find them here.

Hi John,

I'm going to try and make it to the race. I've been wanting to see you field and this may the time I get to come. Saving for the trip now. Didn't want to catch the Utah guys by surprise so I'm stating my intentions. It's not 100% yet but I'm very hopeful.

Blessings, Terry

I also just finished anothe Dago and it nearly a pound lighter. Im heading to Az a week early to do final testing at my old field.
Hope to see everyone come out for this race.
News is the Minden boys are coming, the Victorville gang, the Phoenix Patrol, and 3 of us from Utah.
I cant wait to see everyone again.

I won't be running in the Golden Era race but I am really looking forward to seeing it. I wouldn't mind doing something like that at our field but probably not the same day as our warbird races.

Sounds like you are getting your gear together. Looking forward to seeing it run. I'm just bringing my old rags. No time or money to upgrade. Hoping to keep them together for one last event.

My son is showing interest in racing again so I will be building some planes for both of us for next season. Hoping that YS will finally have the 1.15 by then.

Should be a fun time in Tucson. Really looking forward to it.

Blessings, Terry

Wow Marty that diet you are on is amazing. You are smaller than your plane.

I really had to work hard to keep my motor under the RCPRO 18 lb limit.

I really would like to see some venues held where the runways are longer than 600' for this racer....

Well, our petromat runway broke the landing gear block out of my silver plane an ripped off the whole bottom of the fuse of my cub yesterday so I have some work to do to try and get ready for next weekend. I may just fly the Strega in gold. Thank God we are putting in an asphalt runway in January.

Blessings, Terry

That's good to know considering it will be in the low 40's here on Saturday and we are expecting snow tonight and tomorrow. It will be good to get to the warmth...

Wow, what a great, great day of racing! The weather was picture perfect and the folks at Tucson did a great job of running the race. The racing was fierce all day and the sportsmanship was superb as usual. Not a single crash all day, not even a mid-air. This may have been the most closely matched Gold class I have witnessed and the sound of nitro breathing YS 4-strokes kept the atmosphere sizzling all day. The exception was Richard Verano who flew his highly modified WM Stiletto with the new YS 1.15 and was untouchable for speed but broke out every round. The rest of the field were consistently in the low 1:30's all day. This was a great way to conclude the RCPRO Warbird season.

Here are the results for the day.

It sure was a great time.
The TIMPA crew did a great job with all the entries and we even got 4 rounds in with a lunch break- way to go!!

Not sure til the totals come out but I believe Terry swept all 3 classes for the year end championships. Way to go Terry.

Verano's plane was just sick. That 115 is a perfect match for the Gold class type planes. Thanks for the lender Richard.
My Stock WM Dago with a 110 never broke out but I was able to easily with the 115.
Even though that time didnt get posted.

It was extra special to see so many of the USRA guys there.
Congrats to Donnie and Bill on their wins.
Looking forward to 2011. I just have a feeling there's gonna be a lot more Gold Racers.

Got me a new plane coming.

I'm not sure why the attachments looked the way they did. I will try loading them again and see if they load right.

I had a really bad day in bronze. I broke out the last three rounds so ended up next to last. Not enough to pass Ray.

It was a fun season and I am excited about the turnouts at the last two races. Looks like we are gaining some interest in Gold that will help build up the different venues.

Marty, I didn't get to see the scores for the individual rounds so I can't say why your breakout time didn't show when others did, but according to the rules, the breakout times are supposed to be zeroed out before the last round is posted because they are not legal times and if left in the affect tie breaks which we determined should not be done.

It didn't affect any of the trophy positions so we left it alone this time.

I will try to load the scores again and see it will show properly.

Blessings, Terry
