Default Prop Choices

I have been playing around with various props on my 7 pound 4 ounce World Models Spitfire, it has a YS FZ115WS running on 30%. I currently have a 13.5 X 13.5 APC turning around 9800 RPM. I am hoping to run in the silver class, and I really don't want to use a higher nitro content to save on glow plugs, and wear and tear on the YS.
Any additional thoughts on prop choices would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike, Everyone will have their opinion however I find when running 20-35% I have best results with your combination a 14X12N is best. You should see 99-10.1 rpm. That airframe likes 10,000 rpm on the ground to maintain good speed in the turns. Just my 2 cents. Hey, what do I know.... lol

Hi Dave, Thanks for the reply, you said "I have best results with your combination ", but then you said "a 14X12N is best". So is the 14X12N a better choice that the 13.5x13.5 that I am currently using

Giving the nitro content you are using and the Aircraft choice. Yes.

Default YS newbie

Hi Dave, Dean. reading the previous posts, I am confused about your last response. "Yes", to which propeller, sir., with 30% I am considering jumping the YS hurdle and, like Mike, appreciate any advice. I am also wondering if 30% is absolutely necessary or does 20% suffice without too much performance loss in the 115?

Cowboy, If SILVER is the class you are preparing for then if using a WM Race series plane and a YS-115 is your engine of choice then 20/20 fuel and a 14X12N will give you more that enough speed and turning ability to easily break out in the Silver class.

Dave is correct 20% nitro is plenty for silver as a WM 46 size warbird with 20% nitro, YS 115 and 14x12N will run 1:45 all day long. I have tried to slow mine down and ran a 16x8 also and still breaks out on 20%. The 13.5x13.5 is to much for anything below 45% IMO.

Thanks for the input, I will try a 14x12N and see what happens.
