Check out my new Lancair project.
This was the proto my friend designed and built, mine will be done before spring.
Fiberglass Fuse
Foam Wing and horizontal
80" wingspan
YS120 for power
This plane fly's like it is on rails, hands down one of the best flyers I have ever flown.
Please let me know what you think?

I am hoping for a weight between 12 to 13 lbs., I am going to have to dig up the wing area. As for the kit, I will let you know soon. As for the flight characteristics it is a dream, flys like a pattern plane. The hardest part is trying to get it to stop flying, with the clean lines it just wants to go and go and go. I will post a couple of pictures of mine in the coming week, I am almost to the painting stage. Now if only I could make old man winter go away.

Looks better than women...
I've been planning to build Lancair 320 MK-2 with wingspan 80". So it would be about same size as yours. Is that engine adequate for that plane? Actually you could just tell nearly everything about your plane. Feel free to email or write here. I'm interested in weight for example...
Lancairs are beautiful and I really wouldn't put my hands on any ARF...

I just picked up the molds for the fuse the other day, boy am I stoked.
Here is the info Vinnie
Wingspan 81"
Wing Area 790 sq"
Weight 9-12lbs
Engine YS-120 and up
With a YS-120 the Lancair will do around 120mph
I have a gentleman south of me that is building one that is really tricked out and will be putting in a YS-140, we are hoping for 140-150mph. I also have another person putting in a Moki 1.8, can't wait to see how fast it will fly.
One thing to keep in mind is my Lancair is using a symmetrical airfoil for sport/aerobatic flying. The plane flys like a pattern ship, and it is also pretty fast. I am looking at implementing a different airfoil to make a good practice race plane, and then with a simple wing switch out you have a good aerobatic plane to mess around with out at the field.
I am hoping to have a website up in the next few weeks.

Your plane is really getting light-weight. I'm not able to do easily fiberglass fuselage so I'll cover it with balsa. Possibly very light fiberglass over it so it can be painted easier. Wing will have foam core and most likely balsa cover with thin fiberclass all over it. But what kind of retract you have? I'm considering something from Robart, but they aren't just like scale-like, but the best I have been able to find and get easily here in Finland.
Presumedly your engine won't fit in the cowling... So my choice is Saito's twin FA-182TD, which should be fitted fine inside the cowling. My plane will most likely heavier than yours and this will provide about same power than your YS. I'm not looking for excess performance - I'll build another planes for that. I'll be using original profile, possibly with a bit thicker tip.
If you didn't know, YS doesn't manufacture new 1.20 engines anymore and they are replaced by 1.40 engines. So I do not wonder why your friend is getting of these...

Sounds like you are on track, your engine should sound pretty cool. I am using Spring Air retracts in my Lancair, there are a few others that are trying the Dave Brown mechanical retracts to save some weight. I do know of one set of custom built retracts a guy had made that retracted into the fuse. The only big concern is ground handling with that narrow wheel base.
