I plane to be there as James has probably mentioned.
I will use the Critical Mass in the Unlimited category.
Over square props, $14 each.
Straight exhaust, $20 each.
50%+ nitro, $35 a gallon.
Untold hours turning your $150 "ARF" into a racer, well technically it is called "free" time, right?
Adrinaline flowing, knees knocking, butterflies in your stomache, watching that monster roar by at the start, PRICELESS!
Can't wait to see you guys there!
Chris
I'm looking forward to running 120 instead of 120/Unlimited combined. The planes should be pretty equal.
2 more days...
Looks like we are looking to have a "big" race. I just reserved my 65th spot in the 4 classes of racing. Should have a good busy day. Weather is to be in the low 70's with mild wild so airplanes should be fast.

I have quote a few guys from Sacramento area on the list and also some southern boys. Unlimited, 120 Warbird , 75 Waribrd and 46 Warbird are filling up to make some exciting racing. We have 10 minimum signed up in each class with one class with over 25.
We normally try and start by 9am, there will be time for you to get a flight in before we start racing.
James
There were quite a few of the SAMS guys there and they really added to the event. Thanks to all of you for joining us. Most of the SAMS group flew in 120 Warbird and Unlimited. We also had special guest RocketRob debut his ME163 in unlimited. I called for Rob in that heat and he had a heck of a time keeping it on the course. Not enough elevator and a little too much aileron, but a great introduction to the series.
In 120 Warbird I had a great day. It was the first time we raced the class and there were 6 planes. We were broken into 2 heats and I managed to draw Mark Summich in all four heats. I thought it was going to be a long tough day. In the first heat I got a great start and was fighting for the lead with Austin Shaw from the SAMS group flying a Silver and Blue P-47. It was alot faster than I thought it would be with that big flat nose. After about 4-5 laps I managed to pull a lead out and finished in first. In the second heat Mark and I fought neck and neck for all 8 laps. Around lap 6 I cut turn 2 and wound up lapping the third place plane for a 2nd. In the third heat Mark was flying around pylon 2 and a gust of wind caught his plane and he basically over-rotated. His new MIG was completely destroyed. I managed to pull out a win in the last two heats. In the final there were three planes left, Mine, Allen(?) with a YS110 powered Critical Mass and Don Coulter's 120AX powered Super Corsair. I got a great start and Allen was right on my tail for the first couple laps. I managed to pull out a lead and then relaxed my turns. Around lap 7 he started getting too close for comfort and I had to tighten it up again. I managed to fly a clean race and won the day.
It was by far the best day of racing I've had so far. Every heat was intense and nobody walked away from the pack. I was also impressed with the prizes that Kevin was able to line up for the race. For my win I received a World Models P-51. I guess I might have a plane to fly at SAMS next year after all.
In the Unlimited Final there was a two plane heat with Mark Summich flying a OS91DF powered PM Strega and a Logan Shaw flying a Precious Metal with a YS 120. Mark was a little late on the start and was chasing Logan for all 8 laps. I was impressed. I never thought a YS powered bird would be able to beat that DF motor. I have video of the heat and I'm attempting to load it to YouTube now. I'll post a link once I get it done.
I was really impressed with my plane today. I honestly thought I was going to be mid pack. In practice Don radared it at 132mph out of the corner and 148 going into the next. That was flying on the pylons.
Thanks to everyone that helped put on the race and to all of our sponsors. It was a great race!
Chris
You were right on the Shaw brothers. I updated my post with their names. The Critical Mass wasn't Tommy's, he ran Unlimited. It was Allen(?) from Nevada.
My upload failed so I'm trying again.

Thanks to everyone who came. We had a huge variety of aircraft this year. Thanks to Allen Annette, Austin and Logan Shaw, and Tom Richardi for making the trip down. Great to have you guys down. I am already thinking about next year and possibly a two day race with maybe more prizes. Stay tuned. We had a lot of guys cancel out on Friday due to mishaps during the week or personal issues so we had a little over 30 entries. It actually made for a good day. We had a few mishaps in 120 and Unlimited Warbird so it was basically survival to the end.
I will try to get the winners posted as soon as Iunload the trailer. Iwas a little sore sunday. I also had to change the battery in the truck as Saturday when we went to hook up the trailer to the truck to go home, we had a dead battery. Thank god there was someone there with a big truck battery. Got it going and made it home...barely.Ihad to park the truck for a second across the street from my house and accidently turned the truck off and after about a hour of trying to get it to startedagaingot it running .Finally gotthe trailer backed up and truck parked all about midnight. Turns out there wasa dead cell in the battery.
I would like to thank Brian Riffle , James Gale and the MARCS members for the help that they gave. Since I was limited on my activities, Brian and James did an awesome job taking over leaving me to watch the start and finishes.
