RE: 5th Annual Trashman Classic SAMs Warbird Race
Hi Jake,
As we plan to use it. ALL clocks on the L10 will start on the ZERO call from the recording with a single button push by the race starter. The lap counters will do the same job they have always done, but, they will not be holding a stop watch. Once they advise their respective lane of "LAST LAP", they then will make their way to the start/finish line where they will depress the button for their lane by a single button push when the plane they are counting for crosses the line. We also have a plan to use a single channel as backup for all lanes so that in the event of a complication of any type, we have a fall back timer. |
RE: 5th Annual Trashman Classic SAMs Warbird Race
Tommy, Since you have Hi Tech timers now, lets do the pylons with lights so maybe once in a great while I will actually fly past the pylon and not get 8 cuts every time.....LOL.... Actually Ican blame my caller, James. All he thinks about when we are up on the line is getting the race over quickly so he can go eat a cheeseburger...LOL.......Love you Bro....someone has to pick on you!!!!
|
RE: 5th Annual Trashman Classic SAMs Warbird Race
Not to worry; Tom has Ray The Bat for that.

RE: 5th Annual Trashman Classic SAMs Warbird Race
It will be interesting to see if more concistansy is presant. I for one have always felt everyone should be timed from starting line to finish line but thats not how the SAM races are timed. The way things are right now all you need is a breakout plane and you need not choke the line on the start. Looking foward to a better year for our team next year. Training a new caller is never easy but I feel good about next year. Hopefully a few changes will juggle things around a little. Best of luck to Jerry Votah for the season points in gold! Go Jerry!!! Anyone going over to Morgan Hill the weekend after? I Can't wait. Good luck everyone at the next race!

RE: 5th Annual Trashman Classic SAMs Warbird Race
Dave, It will be great to see you and any of the other Sac guys at MH. I think you gold guys are a good fit for our unlimited. Not sure if our 120 class allows YS engines but if so that opens up alot in that class. I'm hoping Kevin will see this and clairify. None the less its a great oppertunity to put the pedal to the metal and see just what you can get out of your airplanes.

RE: 5th Annual Trashman Classic SAMs Warbird Race
Yes the YS engines are allowed in 120 I in fact won the last race with my YS 1.10.
Kevin it is not cheeseburgers (you can put as many in front of me as you want I don't like cheese) it is the big fat juicy steaks that I can not wait for. Bulldog |

RE: 5th Annual Trashman Classic SAMs Warbird Race
Done,
Race is one month out. Are you all ready?? I'm gonna test my P-40Q yet again this Sunday. Maybe this time I can keep the engine running and all the flight controls attached! |
RE: 5th Annual Trashman Classic SAMs Warbird Race
Not ready at all. I havent seen my garage since the last race I was at which was 3 or 4 months ago. I have been out sick which should get fixed here in the next month or two. Hoping to make our race in October , but may be having surgery around then, so dont know yet. I would like to make your 2-day event in september but again, see how things work out. Reason for email is I need you to take a peak at a "top secret " project..LOL
|
RE: 5th Annual Trashman Classic SAMs Warbird Race
Hmmmm Top secret? I may have to "Drop" by Kevins and do a little spying.

RE: 5th Annual Trashman Classic SAMs Warbird Race

Well with the Race nearly 3 weeks away and some questions as to where everybody stands in the points for the year end trophy I thought that it would be a good time to post the season long standings.

Not to turn this thread into a replay of what happened at the last race or to have racers take sides on what occured, I just wanted to say as a non-club member racer it is good to see that those in charge are taking the situation seriously. I guess the "fairness" of the final decision will have to be squared away between the club, its members and its officers. I have my feelings about the situation, but I will keep that to myself. |
RE: 5th Annual Trashman Classic SAMs Warbird Race
It's not the same without you, Jason. I look forward to racing with you again, next year.

Everyone is pretty quiet with only two weeks left. Trixie and I may start to think the Sac group a bit boring and decide to stay home LOL just pulling some leg. We have all our arrangements in place and are looking forward to hanging with yoose guys.

RE: 5th Annual Trashman Classic SAMs Warbird Race
Ill pick up the chips and salsa again. Just to let you know T-Gun, Red from the Wine Country Flyers relayed the message ;). Just be sure to have a cold one (or two) for me. If you need anything else, let me know. If we are expecting a larger BBQ crowd I can pick up an extra helping, just need to know.
