Default Understanding shift points .

I was thinking of how you could adjust shift points , and I am trying to understand how if you would make if shift into third sooner , would it still hit its top end potential?

Some of the guys over on the Schumacher site shorten their springs in the tranny to make it shift sooner I believe. My problem has always been the tranny shifting too soon so I drilled holes in the pawls to lighten them there by delaying the shift point. Go to http://www.racing-cars.com the Schumacher site and do a search under altering shift points it has been discussed.
