Not much going on in the last few days. Our club has been getting our field ready for our first fly-in.
Anyhow I did manage to cut the ailerons out and cut out the TE piece. They will be glued later. That's all I had for tonite.

Andrew, I have been working a little. But it's minor stuff inside the wing. I'm waiting to order more wood for the fuse. We are having our clubs first Fly-in this weekend, so I've been busy with that also. I should be back at it in a week or so.

Kelly I can`t wait to see the Chipmunk in person to see how large it really is. It should be a good day tomorrow with a fly-in and a tour of your shop.

Kelly, Have you bought a tractor trailer to haul that thing around in?
Maybe Donnie will loan you a cabinet truck if it is big enough.

Yes Alan, I'm going to have to buy a larger trailer for this one for sure. Besides I had planned on getting a bigger one anyways. I could get the Super Chip in my current trailer, but there would be no room for anything else.

Hello Kelly.
Very inspiring build!

What wood thickness do you use for the wing sheeting?
Do you know the weight of the wing at the current stage?
What is the wing area?

Regards,
Magne

Hey Guys, I am still working on it, but slowly. Iv'e been finishing up the inside of the center section of the wing so I can sheet it.
I've got pics in the camera so I will post some shortly.

Magne, the sheeting is 3/32 and right now the wing it about 16 1/2 lbs. I haven't figured up the wing area.

Keep the pictures coming. I am working on a CG Chipmunk right now. Yours is a true inspiration. Plannning on starting my first scratch built after the Chipmunk is in the air. All the tips and techniques are always helpful.

Hello,
I own a full scale Chipmunk, and I am interested in following your project.
Feel free to let me know if you need pictures, or any information related to the full scale, I will be glad to provide.
I also fly RC aircraft for 20 years, especially the large scale. I own a couple of Carden 40% Extra 300 and Skymaster F16 1/6
Good luck with your project!!
Happy new year to all.

Hi Michelad, Thanks for the offer. I sure do need some pics. Right now I need a few shots of the back of the plane. Wing fillet, and the tail from different angles and looking down the horizontal stab.

I just order more wood to start the fuse. Decide not to work on much over the holidays.

Kelly,

very excited to see that you are building this airplane.
i am looking on doing the same airplane for next year,
what are you going to do for the Cowl and Canopy?

i have a great cowl mold builder in California who does fantastic molds for Cowls, he made a mold for my Monster Stinger project, where i found a old Lanier kit and made four airplanes from it and needed more cowls.

i have always loved the Super Chipmunk but want it big.

looking forward to more pics and pointers for this big project.

good luck

NAZ

Kelly,

i would be willing to split the cost of the mold for the your SUper Chipmunk project if you were to make the plug for the cowl.

i may also be able to get someone to make up the canapy's for this airplane also.

send me your phone number to my email and let's discuss

Hey Gene, thanks for the info. I've looked them up and wasn't able to find any up close photos.

Have you flown yours yet. That looks very nice. Give us some specs on her.

Hi Naz, I'm planning on making a molds for the cowl and canopy. I've never done either, but there is always a first time for everything. Plus I have a few friends that can give advice when needed.

The Ohio RC plans are sport scale. However I am trying to find a happy medium between sport and scale. I'm still working all this out in my head right now. (maybe it wont get lost)

Formers 4,5, & 6 need to be redrawn. Figuring out how, is making me scratch my head a little, but I'm making some progress.

Everybody: My wood order came in, but being I have brain farts from time to time, I forgot to order my 1/4x1/2 basswood stringers. So I will have to wait on the fusefor a couple weeks. Ol'well I can stay busy cut formers.
