Last colorscheme, no doubt! Good luck, it will be an interesting subjet for sure.

The plans are from Myhobbystore.com plan number RM492.

It's a 60size and the wing span is 64 inches.

I plan to use a OS 91FS, robart retracts, and still thinking about the rest.

I just mailed the plans to Laserworks, they're going to take a look and see about cutting a short kit and cut ribs for a built-up wing. The plans are for a blue foam wing. I'm not sure if that is the way I want to go. open for suggestion.

So the building will have to wait until Laserworks does thier part

I use a foam wing for a lot of my airplanes. I send "Bob' at flyingfoam.com the templates in Autocad and he cuts a very accurate wing for me. Here's me with one of them. Good luck with your project. Dan.

I have three rolls of monokote Chrome and one roll of dark blue. I think it will look good, Just concern about the sun's glare[8D]

Dan,

Thanks, for the information. It's good to hear from others about their experience. I've had good luck with laserworks, just never had to use a foam cutting service before. I'll keep them in mind.

Nice plane!

If this build goes well and flys well, I'll either enlarge this plan or go with Jerry Bates soon to be released 1/4 scale 80cc Spartan. I'm looking for an excuse to buy the new OS radial.

I really like this plane, I wish it was more popular with kit manufactures.

But I'm getting ahead of myself

Dan,

The plans are in the mail to Bob, looking forward to see his work first hand. Thanks for the lead on the foam wing.

The plans have been sent to Laser Works for the short kit, and a set to Flyingfoam for a set of wing cores. I'll wait to see how much it's going to cost me now.

I would normally cut the parts myself but I have been spoiled with the laser cut parts, and I rather put time into the build.

Speaking of time, I'll be away for a little while. This will work out good, allowing time for the short kit and cores to be cut about 3 to 4 weeks.

The build will offically start Feb 13th 2011. I'll make updates on the progress between now and then. So stay tuned!

I received the quote from Flyingfoam.com and the cores are being cut as I write this. Looking forward to seeing them. I'll post pictures when they arrive. I'm still waiting on the quote for the laser cut short kit.

Beautiful airplane! Jerry Bates just released his 117" span version plan. I am going to build a 78" version. Fullscale was 39' span.

I agree, It's a beautiful aircraft. I'm a Spartan School of Aeronautics Grad, It's where I first saw the Executive.

I plan to build Jerry's 117" version in the future. I would love to see your 78" Executive.

Well, the foam cores are ordered but I haven't received them yet.

Laserworks had some porjects ahead of mine, and is just getting started on mine.

So the start date will be delayed for at least a week or two. [&o]

I have layed out the servo locations for the flaps and ailerons. I cut the servo pockets and servo wire hole using my 100w soldering iron and shaped wire. Next I'll glue the Estes rocket tube in. I'll add servo mounts and sheet the servo pockets.

fafafly,

A good friend has a full scale Spartan #27. He is interested in building a Spartan RC and has a set of plans , about a 100 in. as I recall. I told him of your plans and he is interested in talking with you. If you are interested send me a pvt. message here on RCU with you phone number. He knows about every Spartan still around.
Thanks,
Bruce
