Default Plan Services

I was thinking a thread on all the plans services currently available would be a good resource to have. I just had some plans delivered from [link=http://http://www.airagestore.com/plans.html]the Air Age Store[/link] and was amazed to see them delivered in two weeks to my place here in rural Thailand. What other services for plans are there?

I think its a great idea but please make sure the plans dealer actually own the copywrite owner or you open RCU up to liability and yourself. (Think about what is going on with music and movies right now.) A good example is if a plan service is selling RCM plans they do NOT own the rights to those plans. RCM is still in business and sells their own plans and back issues. Don't steal from the designers! We need designers more than these cut rate crooks! I will start off with two I have used and know are legal owners.

You can get Rich Uravitch plans directly from Rich his URL is: http://www.richuravitch.com/

You can get the Charles Richard 1/4 Scale Globe Swift plans. His plans are very similar to his old buddy Corvin Miller's plans and extremely detailed. Purchase them directly directly from his son Erik Richard email him at: [email protected] Erik also has a custom cowling made to fit with the grill and the panel lines available as well. Cost is very reasonable.

Once this thread runs a little more and a few other sites are linked I'll include the links from this thread in the "Free Plans... " sticky resource thread under a heading for "Commercial plans for purchase" heading on the thread and change the title a little to reflect this shift.

And it's a great idea to run with this.

I'll add a few from the US Magazines;

Radio Controlled Modeler magazine plans
www.rcmplans.com
Flying Models Magazine plans
http://carstensbookstore.com/caflmopldi.html
AMA Model Aviation plans and the John Pond old timers plans
http://www.modelaircraft.org/plans/plans.aspx

BMatthews..... Can you put a link to that on this thread? I did a search but did not come up with that pinned thread. Thanks!

Good point. Just as bad, is that someone pays for a plan that they shouldn't have paid for, given that situation. There are numerous people still trying to peddle old plans on the web, that can actually be found for free. These are plans where nobody is pursuing the copyrights, but the seller does not have specific rights to. In that case the plans should be free, and fortunately a few places have popped up, now allowing downloads of these plans for free.

As for free plans listings, unless someone wants to maintain the listing, they generally become a compilation of dead links within a short time.

I don't constantly check the links to free plans in the sticky thread. However I've asked prominently in that thread that any dead links be reported to either da Rock or myself so we can prune them from the listing. So far only a few have been reported as dead. If anyone comes across any PLEASE PM da Rock or me about it so we can edit it out of the listing sticky.

Unless I missed it, you may want to add http://www.outerzone.co.uk/index.asp
They have a number of plans from accomplished designers. Many of these plans are less common scale subjects that I have wanted to build for years, like the Heston Phoenix plan I am now building from. http://www.wattflyer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67575
