Hi everyone,
Just wanted to inject a little excitement back into the project. I know Chad has been very busy, but I had some time over the holidays to do a bit of work on my end. I was able to get one of the original tail wheel drawings so I decided to do an exact scale version for this project. The nice thing is it can also be used for a 1/6 Bearcat like the ESM model. The pics show the rendered 3D file and then also some of the actual sintered nylon printed parts are shown. My intention is to make a mold to create an injected wax part so I can then have it investment cast in aluminum. I am not sure it shows up, but I have modeled in the weld detail as well!!! I have also been working on an exact scale P&W R2800 dummy radial over the last several years as you can see the rendered 3D model pic. Obviously having all 18 cylinders is not practical or necessary for a flying model, but I wanted to do the whole motor for a display piece, A lot of this was done from the P&W maintenance manual.![](https://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=1963764)

It all looks fantastic as usual Dave and that R-2800 is spectacular. While I have not had a great deal of time to work on the Hellcat I have been moving forward with one aspect of the project which is a set of foam core tail surfaces. A good friend of mine has a really nice foam cutting set up and has offered to do the cores. I hope to get over to his shop in the next week or so and get a couple of sets cut. The first set will go to Dave as he has offered to do the beta build on them. I'm also strongly considering foam for the outer wing panels but much depends upon how easily it will be to incorporate the scale flap actuating mechanism. One other bit of exciting news, I may be able to order the Mick Reeves belt drive for my G62 in the next few weeks. I'm still hoping to swing a scale, or near scale, 3-blader on my Hellcat. Finger crossed!
